Qualifications:
- Lead multiple departments (i.e., day shift, night shift, weekend shift) and be willing and able to flex their schedule to ensure leadership oversight over all departments
- Be an effective leader by being a doer/hard worker and a delegator of work (it can not be one or the other, there is a right balance between the 2)
- Has to have a STRONG sense of urgency and must be responsive to meetings, emails, questions, and customer concerns
- Must be an effective communicator and bring the operational management team together by holding staff meetings, one-on-one meetings, and full-site meetings
- Must have strong financial and business acumen and must be laser-focused on achieving KPIs and improving operational profitability
- Must have a proven track record in holding others accountable and mentoring others to build effective teams
- Must demonstrate and lead by example our core competencies of: Integrity, Accountability, Results-Oriented, Collaborative, Passionate, and Safety
- HS diploma/GED required. Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Materials Management or related discipline preferred (will consider equivalent combination of education and work experience)
- Very strong and experienced leader who has turnaround experience for distribution centers.
- Must be a well-balanced leader with experience building teams and culture, as well as delivering on KPIs and business initiatives.
- 8-10+ years operations management - 5 years within wholesale/distribution and supervisory experience of 50+ employees
- Knowledge of best practices for principles of supervision, warehousing/distribution and inventory tracking procedures
- Knowledge of OSHA safety rules/regulations for warehouse environment and vehicles
- Intermediate proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); AS400 experience a plus
- Effectively handle multiple, concurrent projects requiring judgment and initiative with a positive, can-do attitude
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills with all levels of internal and external audiences
- Ability to review and understand high-level reports, budgets and analyses of operational costs/forecast data
- Ability to motivate and develop teammates and build collaborative work teams
- Ability and willingness to work with purpose and a strong sense of urgency
- Forklift driver certification; valid unexpired driver’s license/proof of current insurance
- Travel to sites of responsibility will be required based on operational needs
Description:
The Manager is accountable for shipping and receiving, order fulfillment, transportation, storage, inventory control and protection of all material, products, and equipment through hands-on and delegation to his/her leadership team.
This is one of our largest distribution centers. It has about 100 employees of which 15 are drivers and 85 are warehouse. This position is a senior level because it has multiple site oversight. It will also be responsible for the success of the Orlando, FL site and our Burlington, NC cross dock (10 drivers). This site has the most opportunity for growth and profitability.
Leadership

- Travel to sites
Collaboration
- Ongoing partnership with cross-functional teams including Sales, Customer Experience, and Transportation Logistics for continuity of on-time deliveries, minimizing route delays, and providing superior service to our customers
- Develop and monitor transportation and distribution standards and procedures in collaboration with safety and operational leadership
- Maintain a highly engaging relationship with Human Resources to ensure alignment in managing through teammate relations
- Partner with Safety to orient and educate teammates on warehouse/transportation safety and security expectations
Operations
- Manage the planning, scheduling and direction of receipt, storage, shipment of product and issuance of materials and equipment
- Determine and maintain appropriate staffing levels, prepare site budgets, including staffing, equipment and supplies
- Ensure teammate safety and operations training and onboarding processes are conducted
- Builds appropriate operational metrics/scorecards and general reporting to capture efficiency of sites and individual teammates
- Works with operations team on effective goal setting, measuring progress, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement opportunities
- Lead site management to seek opportunities to improve productivity
- Establish operational procedures for verification of incoming/outgoing shipments, handling/disposition of product, and accurate inventory count.
- Manage teammate accident, injuries, and incidents appropriately reported and documented in a timely manner
- Periodically inspect and ensure physical facility and all equipment are in functional working order
- Direct damaged product salvage, take appropriate action to dispose of non-usable, slow-moving or excess stock
- Follow and enforce all company expectations, handbook and operations policies and procedures

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Warehouse environment with variable weather conditions, exposure to noise and vibrations from forklifts/other equipment, will work near moving mechanical parts, such as lifts
PHYSICAL ABILITIES
- Primarily sitting, with some walking, standing, bending, kneeling, crouching
- Occasional reaching and carrying with hands and arms, ability to lift and carry 60 pounds
- Able to hear and speak into telephone, close visual work on a computer terminal, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate keyboard, mouse, other technical instruments and warehouse equipment
