Operations Planner

Summary

The Supervisor will lead the strategic planning of daily operations, ensuring compliance with Hours of Service (HOS), optimizing driver schedules, and maximizing productivity. The role will also oversee the management of empty container returns street turns and utilize various resources to streamline the container acquisition process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Daily Operations Preplanning: Strategically plan for the following day, considering HOS regulations, customer delivery appointments, and driver availability. Provide drivers with clear start and end times.
• Maximizing Productivity: Ensure the daily plan optimizes driver schedules for maximum productivity, ensuring drivers spend minimal idle time and fulfill their appointments efficiently.
• Empty Container Management: Oversee the process of empty container returns, ensuring timely and cost-effective solutions. Utilize resources such as Yard Rental Partners, Facebook community, and WhatsApp to source containers and avoid unnecessary trips to the port.
• Street Turns Responsibility: Examine export bookings and identify opportunities to reuse import empty containers if they match the booking requirements. Strategize and execute street turns efficiently.
• Communication and Collaboration: Maintain robust communication channels with customers, drivers, and other stakeholders. Collaborate closely with Dispatch and CSRs to ensure synchronized operations.
• Documentation and Compliance: Ensure all operations adhere to HOS regulations, customer requirements, and company SOPs. Document all processes, decisions, and communications for future reference and compliance checks.
• Performance Analysis: Regularly review and evaluate the operational processes. Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure success and identify areas of improvement.
• Training: Ensure all team members are well-informed and trained on the latest processes, software tools, and industry best practices.
• Software Proficiency: Effectively use tools like Blue Cargo for scheduling, TMP for charges, and other relevant platforms for sourcing and managing containers.
• Problem-solving: Quickly address any operational hitches to ensure minimal disruption.
• Geofence Management in GEOTAB and 121Tower: Create and manage geofences to accurately calculate delay times and ETAs. Ensure that geofences are kept up-to-date to facilitate accurate tracking and reporting.

Key Performance Indicators
