Position Summary:
The Banquet Captain/Maitre d' is responsible for overseeing events, including weekend ones, by handling and delegating the setup and breakdown of function rooms, and ensuring customer satisfaction through timely, courteous, efficient, and customized service. The role emphasizes teamwork within the environment.
Job Responsibilities:
- *Oversee the execution of events and coordinate the setup and breakdown of function rooms. *Serve as the primary contact for the customer, acting promptly to meet their needs. *Conduct pre-shift meetings to review the Banquet Event Order (BEO) and service standards. *Coordinate the customer experience with the kitchen, specifically with the sous chef. *Manage tasks such as opening bottled wine, bussing and setting tables, and, if necessary, performing buffet setup and breakdown. *Supervise banquet functions, ensuring smooth and efficient operations. *Ensure compliance with departmental and company policies and procedures. *Maintain knowledge of service requirements and organize functions accordingly. *Manage inventory, perform cleanliness and organization inspections, and coordinate employee tasks and breaks. *Handle customer complaints, ensuring satisfaction, and maintain knowledge of local area services. *Uphold standards of quality and timing, report equipment problems, and attend all scheduled meetings.
Qualifications/Skills Required:
- *High school diploma or equivalent, with relevant experience or training. *Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple correspondence; effective communication skills. *Basic math skills and common sense understanding for carrying out instructions. *Knowledge of different serving styles and methods for serving banquets. *Flexibility in performing varied duties as delegated by leadership.
Physical Demands:
- *Regular requirements include standing, walking, using hands, and talking or hearing. *Frequent lifting/moving up to 50 pounds and specific vision abilities (close vision, distance vision, focus adjustment).
