Summary
The Director of Total Rewards is a senior-level position responsible for leading and managing the development, implementation, and administration of the company's Total Rewards program, including compensation, benefits, performance management, recognition, and other related programs. This role reports to the Chief People Officer (CPO) and works closely with other members of the People Department team, as well as with executives and managers across the organization.
This is a high-visibility, high-impact role that requires a strategic thinker with a strong track record of leading and implementing Total Rewards programs. Responsibilities
- Developing and implementing total reward strategies that align with the organization’s goals and objectives.
- Overseeing the design, implementation, and administration of the company’s compensation, benefits, performance management, and recognition programs that are competitive, cost-effective, and support the attraction and retention of top talent.
- Partnering with Chief People Officer to review and analyze executive compensation packages that are competitive, equitable, performance-based, and aligned with the company’s strategic goals to include, base, bonus, long-term incentives, benefits, and perquisites.
- Overseeing equity awards to include grant, repurchase and forfeiture agreements.
- Ensuring that all Total Rewards programs comply with legal and regulatory requirements, including ACA, ERISA, HIPPA, and SEC regulations and tax laws.
- Conducting regular benchmarking and analysis of compensation and benefits programs to identify trends, insights, areas for improvement, and ensure competitiveness in the market.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure that Total Rewards programs are effectively communicated and understood by teammates.
- Managing relationships with third-party vendors, including benefits brokers and consulting firms.
- Leading compensation and benefits professional(s), providing coaching and mentoring as needed to ensure the team’s continued growth and development.
- Develop and deliver presentations to senior leaders on Total Rewards programs and their impact on the company.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s’ degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
- Ten+ years of experience in Total Rewards, compensation, and benefits, including five years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of executive compensation programs, including market trends, benchmarking, design, regulations, governance, and disclosures.
- Experience designing and implementing executive compensation programs for a large, complex organization.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations governing compensation and benefits, including the ACA, HIPPA, ERISA, FASB.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and make strategic recommendations based on that analysis.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated experience in managing and developing compensation and benefits professional(s).
- Understanding of how to design and implement compensation and benefits programs that are appropriate for a diverse and geographically dispersed workforce.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proven ability to build lasting relationships with trust and respect.
- SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP).
- Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) and Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) certification preferred.
