What we do:

BNY Mellon has the pre-eminent capital markets platform, integrating data, technology, and investment solutions – placing the Bank in a leading position to meet the evolving and complex needs of financial institutions. To build on this strong foundation and capture emerging opportunities, the Bank recently launched Growth Ventures. A new business that focuses specifically on identifying, developing, and executing break-out commercial opportunities that are adjacent to BNY Mellon’s strategic priorities, but ‘more-than-incremental’ to existing solutions.

Growth Ventures is the Bank’s platform for investing in and standing up new businesses. These businesses integrate existing capabilities into new commercial models, deliver new capabilities to market often through partnerships with clients and other industry stakeholders, and enter new markets in unique ways that benefit clients and the overall ecosystem. Growth Ventures also includes BNY Mellon’s market-leading software and data management business, with approximately $45 trillion in assets under data management and proprietary technology infrastructure that is a foundation for a broad suite of analytics, services, and solutions.

Growth Ventures is driving a bank wide effort to build new products/services in the Private Markets space to serve the emerging needs of GPs and LPs (with a primary focus on private equity, private credit and private real estate / infrastructure investments). This business will extend our existing depth and breadth in public markets to create market leading software, data and analytics products for Private Markets.

Key Role Responsibilities:

This role will lead a small entrepreneurial team, will play a critical role in developing and launching Private Markets business. This includes coordinating efforts across multiple businesses to develop a coherent product roadmap and work closely with engineering and sales/GTM teams to drive execution and commercialization:

  • Drive overall product strategy and go-to-market approach
  • Work with initial pilot clients to deeply understand their needs around Private Markets Data and analytics to ensure product-market fit
  • Constantly assess longer term viability of the business and assess scalability of the product
  • Drive coordination with business leads across other LoBs outside of Growth Ventures (e.g., Fund Services, Corporate Trust) to ensure a coherent roadmap
  • Manage critical vendors / alliances to ensure timely delivery of product and commercial goals
  • Work very closely with the engineering team to develop to ensure engineering roadmap is fully aligned with product roadmap
  • Escalate delivery issues as appropriate through a well establish governance structure
  • Stay current with market trends to ensure

We are currently looking to fill this position at our global in downtown New York or Wellesley, MA.

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate would have a passion for and track record in:

The ideal candidate will ideally have following relevant experience:

  • 10+ years of related experience preferred
  • Experience in alternative investing and/or financial technology start-ups
  • Prior experience in management consulting (structured problem solving)

Qualifications: Bachelors degree in business or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required. Advanced degree preferred10-12 years of related experience preferred. Experience in the securities or financial services industry preferred.

This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

BNY Mellon assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $200,000 and $266,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
