Our opening for a Director of Underwriting and Insurance Operations - Workers Compensationis available now, but it won’t last long! This full-time exempt position will be a part of the Fantastic Workers CompensationDepartment to provide strategy and results of the Workers CompensationUnderwriting and policy management operations of Engage PEO, including meeting or exceeding operating goals and P&L results and deliver a streamlined underwriting process to support our growth initiative while maintaining profitability of our Workers Compensation program.

The Director of Underwriting and Insurance Operations - Workers Compensationwill report directly to the Chief Risk Officer.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides direct oversight and leadership to Underwriting, Underwriting Services, Policy Management, Customer Service, and Insurance Operations teams.
  • Oversees the Underwriting and policy management teams to ensure proper evaluation, selection, pricing, and servicing of Workers Compensation insurance policies within accepted company procedures and guidelines.
  • Oversees new Client onboarding relative to Underwriting and Underwriting Services, proactively identifying risks and challenges as well as introducing innovation and enhancements where possible.
  • Utilizes current data and initiates customized information to interpret pricing and exposure trends.
  • Actuarial fundamentals. Ability to understand loss trends, loss triangles, and ratemaking. Ability to quantify risk based on experience history and forecasting methods.
  • Work with CRO to develop or enhance Key Performance Indicator reports to assess department performance and inform future strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with other leaders in the Risk Management Department to assist with insurance renewals by completing required applications and data submissions.
  • Develop strategic relationships and partnerships with brokers, insurers and other stakeholders in order to optimize the underwriting & renewal process.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in risk management, or related field with commensurate experience
  • A minimum of 5 year of management in Underwriting and/or Insurance Operations at a carrier, MGA or TPA
  • Proficient with MS Office, including Microsoft EXCEL skills
  • CPCU, ARM, or JD is preferred but not required
  • ClientSpace and PrismHR knowledge is a plus


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

The salary range targeted for this position is listed below. However, you should know that the pay rate may vary based on regional location, the candidate’s skill, and relevant experience. In addition, some positions may include a form of bonus or other incentive compensation, which would not be included in this salary range.

Salary Range: $120,000 - $160,000
