Ball State University is recruiting a Director ofStudent Center and Programs to join the Student Affairs team! In this role, you provide for the overall planning, programmatic, operational, budgetary, and personnel activities of the Student Center and it's programs. This position is responsible for ensuring that the L. A. Pittinger Student Center is positioned as the center of student activity with programs, services, operations, and facilities designed to reflect, anticipate, and address the needs of the campus community. We are looking for a student-centered, innovative, inclusive, collaborative, and strategic director to lead this already high performing team and take them to the next level. Oversee the planning, programmatic, operational, budgetary, and personnel activities of the Student Center; provide leadership for the total activity and personnel of the Student Center; coordinate and support all student, staff, and university efforts in order to achieve the Student Center's educational and service objectives; determine the Student Center's goals and standards of performing through selection and supervision of key personnel; guidance to staff and student employees and volunteers; budget formulation and personnel standards.
Minimum Education
Master's degree from an accredited institution in college student personnel, counseling, business or a related area.
Minimum Experience
At least five years of experience in student union administration; supervisory experience.
Minimum Other
Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Duties & Responsibilities
Ranking 1 Job Duty
Coordinate the daily programmatic and operational activities; monitor the revenues and expenditures for the budgetary units; provide general supervision of the Student Center; includes all key Student Center departments: Operations, Programs, Recreation, Hotel and Campus Information Center.
Ranking 2 Job Duty
Develop long-range plans for the Student Center in regard to program, operations, facilities, and personnel; includes the improvement of facilities; introduction of new services/programs; upgrading of operations; development of personnel.
Ranking 3 Job Duty
In cooperation with the Director of Purchasing Services, act as the university liaison for contracted agencies providing services in the Student Center; vending machines, hair salon, bank services and machines, post office, etc.
Ranking 4 Job Duty
In cooperation with Director of Campus Dining, provide comprehensive food court and catering services.
Ranking 5 Job Duty
Provide leadership for the development of the annual Student Center budget request; oversee total budget activity.
Ranking 6 Job Duty
Oversee and provide leadership for the university's Family Weekend, Weeks of Welcome, Late Nite and University Program Board programs.
Ranking 7 Job Duty
Coordinate with other university offices, such as Purchasing, Facilities Planning and Management, Human Resource Services, Payroll, Accounting, Public Safety, and Academic Affairs, regarding matters of mutual interest and responsibility.
Ranking 8 Job Duty
Coordinate facilities and operational policies to support other university units which may be housed in the Student Center, i.e., Office of Student Life, University Catering, Parking Services, Student Legal Services, Office of Disability Services, Rinker Center for International Programs, Student Rights and Community Standards, Office of Retention and Graduation.
Ranking 9 Job Duty
Provide primary liaison between Student Center and all public stakeholders; develop and coordinate activities designed to promote the services and Programs offered by the Student Center over which the director exercises general supervision.
Ranking 10 Job Duty
Monitor the appearance and condition of the facility; establish maintenance priorities; repair and replacement schedules; coordinate these activities with Purchasing, Facilities Planning and Management, and the Budget Office.
Ranking 11 Job Duty
Maintain building safety and security in cooperation with the Office of Public Safety.
Ranking 12 Job Duty
Full supervisory responsibility for interviewing and selection, coaching, compensation, discipline, performance appraisal, training and career development of personnel.
Ranking 13 Job Duty
Perform other related duties as assigned.
