Position Summary
Gettysburg College seeks a collaborative, committed professional to serve as its new Assistant Director of Annual Giving. The ideal candidate will have experience with-and enthusiasm for-leading a team of peers and/or volunteers, event planning and using data to make informed decisions. The Assistant Director is a valued member of an 8-person Annual Giving team that is responsible for raising annual support for the Gettysburg Fund and the Orange & Blue Club, as well as increasing the College's alumni participation rate. The Assistant Director will take the lead in creating a culture of philanthropy among current students and BOLD alumni ('Burgians of the last decade), both of which are key components of the College's recently launched Comprehensive Campaign. Gettysburg College seeks candidates who have the communication skills and cross-cultural abilities to maximize their effectiveness with diverse groups of alumni, students, colleagues, and community members.
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee a multi-channel student outreach ambassador program to increase engagement and philanthropic support from alumni and parents.
  • Recruit, train and supervise 5 - 10 student ambassadors.
  • Create, plan, and execute two signature events designed to foster a culture of philanthropy among students.
  • Recruit, lead and motivate 10 - 15 Senior Class Gift Campaign volunteers.
  • Serve as the Annual Giving liaison for the 5th and 10th reunion committees, leading all efforts for their Reunion Class Gifts.
  • Serve as the liaison to the BOLD Council development committee.
  • Cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of 25 - 30 young alumni prospects with emphasis on securing Young Alumni Cupola Society members.
  • Stay current on trends in young alumni giving and partner with the Director of Annual Giving to implement creative young alumni appeal strategies.
  • Travel as necessary to meet with prospects and volunteers.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work is required to support the outreach program, reunion committee conference calls, and special events.

This is a full-time, 12-month administrative position with a competitive salary complemented by an available benefits package including medical and dental insurance, 22 vacation days, 403(b) retirement contributions, dependent tuition benefits, and parent leave. The Assistant Director of Annual Giving is eligible to request a hybrid status of up to two days of remote work when the student ambassador program is not operational-typically May through August and December through January. Currently, all Annual Giving staff members work in the office on Tuesdays to allow for team meetings. This is in accordance with the College's Remote and Hybrid Work Policy.
Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree is required
  • Excellent organizational abilities, with strong oral and written communication skills
  • Creativity, and ability to maintain positive and productive relationships with constituents
  • Flexibility to assume new duties and responsibilities as the position grows professionally
  • Ability to work collegially as a team member
  • Must have a valid driver's license, as driving is a function of the position
