Title: Director of Surgery
Responsible for the overall day-to-day operations of an inpatient 24/7 nursing unit/department. Evaluates the environment and makes recommendations to ensure delivery of quality service, optimal patient flow and comfort, safety, and compliance with various standards of care, regulatory/governing bodies (e.g. OSHA, JCAHO), infection control, and risk management.
The Same Day Services unit is located on the second floor within the Surgical Department. The unit consists of 20 rooms for preoperative, postoperative Phase II management and discharge of Surgical/procedural inpatients and outpatients.
The Operating Room which is located on the second floor consists of 6 operating room suites, one Endoscopy, one Pain Management and one Cystoscopy suite. The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is located on the second floor within the Surgical Department. The unit consists of 10 Phase I, Phase II and discharge post-operative beds. The types of patients served include pediatric, adult and geriatric who present for surgery, pain management, endoscopy, injections and other invasive procedures.

- Bronchoscopy
- Diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower endoscopy
- ENT Surgery
- General Surgery
- Genitourinary Surgery
- Gynecologic Surgery
- Orthopedic Surgery
- Pain Management
- Podiatric Surgery
- Robotics program
- Vascular Surgery
Qualifications
Education/Training
• Graduate of an approved school of nursing. Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with Graduate degree in Business or health-related field.
Licensure/Certification
• Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Florida or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Initially required to have Certified Perioperative Nurse; Certified Nurse - Operating Room (National CNOR credential) until
achieves National leadership board certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American
Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL) required within 2 years.
• May require one or more of the following certifications based on the assigned patient population:
o Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
o Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
o Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS)
o Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC)
Experience
• Three (3) years as a registered nurse in a surgical setting, with one (1) years leadership experience.
• Fully meets all requirements of this level associated on the Clinical Ladder.
