ETC Hotels is seeking a Spa Director for One Spa at Shutters on the Beach and Sea Spa at Casa del Mar in Santa Monica.
The Director of Spa is responsible for the day-to day operations of both of the Spa's to include: establishing and meeting the budget and financial goals of the organization, implementing a strategic plan to include marketing initiatives and staff training, acting as the liaison to other revenue centers on property, and professionally represents the facility and ETC Hotels. The Director of Spa must have the ability to lead and motivate staff to achieve goals and exceed guest expectations.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring solutions meet strategic objectives and quality standards within time, resource and financial goals
- Develops relationships with all vendors
- Develop all operation and merchandising procedures/logistics
- Supporting new business development and grow opportunities
- Prepare annual budgets for both Spas
- The ability to interview and select job applicants effectively supervise, discipline, mentor and give performance evaluations for Spa employees
- Direct overall operations of the fitness and spa facilities, including short and long range strategic planning so that the business operates cost effectively and efficiently
- Lead the Spa in establishing and executing departmental goals
- Ensure routine maintenance of all spa and fitness equipment are kept along with the highest level of cleanliness and operation throughout spa.
- Monitor inventory, coordinate purchasing and process payroll.
- Implement (develop if needed) standard operating procedures including payroll systems, training protocols, inventory control and purchasing methods.
- Implement effective staff training plans for all areas of Spa operations
- Participate in spa labor planning
- Monitor comparison of the spa actual performance to Forecast / budget
- Endure adherence of hotel, spa and facility policies
- Covering shifts at the spas' front desks as needed
- Responsible for staffing, coordinating and supervising employees and contractors, and is expected to provide a welcoming, safe, enjoyable and service-oriented environment for members and guests
- Prepare comprehensive budgets and forecasts to ensure the efficient and cost effective operation of the department
- Check on completed repair and maintenance works to ensure that established standards have been met
- Focus on team performance by reporting team metrics and assisting in determining resources needed to provide technical solutions for the hotel
- Ensure an effective communication process is in place with spa staff and other departments in the hotel
Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years' experience in Spa Management
- Luxury spa experience
- Knowledge of professional spa services and treatments
- Knowledge of retail operations and inventory systems
- Effective leadership skills and a strong work ethic
- Excellent customer service skills
- Efficient, well organized, and able to handle a variety of duties simultaneously
- Creative in marketing and promotions
- Sales oriented

- Proficient in spa software and Microsoft Office products
- Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of constantly to move objects
- The employee will be required to operate the following tools: computer, calculators, office supplies, phone, paperwork, protocol binders, retail inventory, all spa equipment, hot cabbies, paraffin heaters, steamers, microcurrent machines, fitness equipment, and treatment products
- Work conditions include exposure to noise, vibrations, extreme temperatures, wet or humid environments, burns, fumes, odors, dust, mists, mechanical, chemical, and electrical hazards
