Position Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements the Security departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the administrative, legal and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization. Ensures all standard operating procedures and post orders are up to date and aligned with the core objectives of the health system.
- Provides accurate and timely security operations reports to Assistant VP of Operations. Analyzes trends and makes operational decisions as a result of data.
- Ensures a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, medical staff, and employees on a 24 hour basis.
- Responsible for oversight and supervision of potential and actual security threat responses occurring on hospital and off site campuses.
- Responsible for oversight and supervision of Security systems, including cameras, access control, visitor management, patrol technology, dispatch systems, etc. Ensures all systems operate effectively and proactively.
- Participates in training and seminars on campus and within the local community that ensure a safe workplace. Brings lessons learned back to the organization for follow up and action.
- Primary contact and liaison for local law enforcement and other safety and regulatory agencies on safety, security and emergency management matters.
- Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments regarding Security & Emergency Preparedness by developing appropriate plans and contingencies based on information provided by law enforcement agencies (local, state, and federal). Acts as a security consultant within the facility and implements recommendations.
- Assures that all areas implement and maintain effective controls to ensure the security of the physical space and inventory and safety of staff and clients.
- Responsible for all MSMC hospital parking and transportation services, including booth attendants, valet, and vehicle services (i.e. fuel, repairs, etc.)
- Guides, motivates, develops and directs managers and employees in their professional development through department orientation, in-service education and monthly meetings.
- Responsible for the management of the security badging office. Ensures all employee, contractor, founders, etc. badges are appropriately handled and managed.
- Oversees and conducts investigations of alleged violations of criminal law and hospital policy. Develops a systemic process to collect data and analyze the causes of incidents.Reviews incident reports and maintains appropriate reports and records.
- Manages visitor management and screening of anyone entering the hospital
Qualifications:
- Healthcare experience strongly preferred
- Education: BS/BA Criminal Justice/Sociology/Social Science/Similar; in lieu of BS/BA, 10+ years’ work experience.
- Experience: 5-10+ years Management in Law Enforcement/Security Related Field
- AIHHS (community group)
- Regional domestic security task force (community group)
