I. Job Summary | Major goals and objectives.

MNI Targeted Media, a division of DotDash Meredith provides a single point of contact for multiplatform, customized and targeted advertising. From research and strategy to implementation and analysis, MNI Targeted Media offers the print and digital products and services needed to efficiently and effectively reach audiences in select markets.

The Director of Sales will oversee and lead activities for MNI in their designated district. With the assistance of the VP of Sales for the region, the Director will motivate, recruit, hire, train, and retain a talented team of Sales Account Executives to effectively succeed in a collaborative, fast-paced environment with competitive digital media and magazine media solutions. Responsible and accountable for the overall sales efforts and revenue growth for their market. The Director of Sales must maintain a highly visible presence within their market and provide prompt, courteous service to all MNI clients and departments. This position serves as the local "face of the company" as well as "voice of the customer" to ensure that both the goals and vision of corporate MNI are effectively executed and client needs are met and exceeded.

REGION SALES GROWTH PLANNING AND EXECUTION
  • Meet or exceed overall revenue targets.
  • Develop a 12-month calendar for market visits, focusing on where the greatest opportunity for revenue exists, working with each Account Executive in person on a monthly basis.
  • Regularly conduct in person sales trips on a weekly basis to all markets in your district to support, train and nurture your sales team.
  • Deliver at or under budget your region's T& E allotment.
  • Hold Account Executives in your district accountable for 8-10 sales calls per week.
  • Develop a minimum of one client branding event per month across region.
  • Develop and maintain a live plan by account to increase renewal rates.
  • Work to maximize revenue for advertisers within assigned territory by identifying new opportunities with both new clients and current clients.
  • Partnering with Regions' Account Executives by providing support during client calls and attending client meetings.
  • Lead internal sales meetings and develop processes for sharing best practices across corporate sales organization for your region.
  • Work with Account Executives to identify new prospects and revenue streams.

PEOPLE / TEAM HIRING, TRAINING, DEVELOPMENT & ACCOUNTABILITY
  • With the assistance of the VP of Sales for your region - Recruit, hire and ensure training on all MNI products and solutions for your entire designated team
    • Actively monitor all Account Executives (both tenured and new) to ensure they are fully trained on all of MNI's product offerings as well as versed in MNI's go to market pitch.
    • If/when needed, coach team around effective selling strategies and sales tips & tricks.
  • Encourage and develop your designated team members, positioning them for growth, enhancing, highlighting and expanding their existing skill sets to help refine and strengthen their opportunity areas, for a cohesive, winning and fulfilled Team, paying specific attention to:
    • Retaining your top performing Account Executives
    • Actively managing underperformers.
  • Coach and help guide direct reports to deliver their goals.
  • Hold Sales Account Executives accountable for timely updates to Salesforce and compliance to core values of the organization.
  • Establish and maintain a positive working environment that has open communications and is responsive to employee concerns.

III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.

Education:

A Bachelor's Degree in Business, Communications, Marketing or related field (and/or equivalent, relevant work experience).

Experience:
  • 5+ years of sales and 3+ years management experience within sales, advertising, media, publishing or integrated media company.
  • Experience selling digital media essential.

  • Expert in Media and media trends.
  • Strong record of hiring, developing and retaining top performers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with many functions and within the company.
  • Desire and drive for excellence
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, especially PowerPoint and Excel
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and operate at both strategic executive level as well as roll up sleeves to tactical level - at a moment's notice.
  • Excellent leadership skills. A clearly demonstrated history of developing cooperative relationships both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated ability to be highly organized, have a strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills.
  • Time management, business acumen and a strong work ethic are a must.
  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills.

Pay Range
Salary: $153,680 - $215,135

The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Dotdash Meredith's total compensation package for employees. Other compensation may include annual bonuses, and short- and long-term incentives.
