The new position of Director of Programming & Education is responsible for providing vision and leadership for association programming and events, managing a portfolio of conferences and programs as well as leading educational initiatives. The Director of Programming & Education is an integral part of the IPA team, serving to further strategic initiatives and act as a key thought leader for our organization. They will further our efforts to grow our partnerships and stakeholder relationships.

The association is based in Washington, D.C., but the position is . Candidates will be considered within and outside of the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The role requires up to 15% travel.

We are a small, dynamic, and committed team, adept at multitasking and collaborating across responsibilities as necessary.

Major Responsibilities:

· Lead conference content & programming (70%):

o Design and implement forward-looking and impactful strategies for various conferences and events to enhance industry knowledge and engagement.

o Prepare engaging and relevant agendas, panel topics, and identify and engage expert panelists for IPA conferences and events.

· Lead education and data initiatives (30%):

o Lead the IPA’s educational programs, webinars, and data initiatives, aligning them with the IPA’s goals and ensuring high-quality content and effective dissemination of information.

o Create compelling educational materials and work collaboratively with industry experts, members, and stakeholders to enhance the IPA’s educational offerings.

· Continuously research and integrate the latest industry trends, topics, best practices, technology, and innovations into the IPA’s programming and educational efforts.

· Work closely with the Director of Marketing to execute promotional and marketing campaigns for conferences/events, and partner with the Conference & Event Manager to guarantee seamless planning and execution of conferences/events.

· Collaborate with the CEO, association staff, vendors, and consultants as needed to ensure the success of the IPA’s conferences, events, and educational offerings.

· Provides onsite support at association conferences and events.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

Reporting Relationship:
Reports to IPA President & CEO and collaborates with internal staff and external consultants and vendors as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

· Proven experience in developing and executing conference, event and/or educational content and programming within the financial services sector.

· Experience within the alternative investments industry a strong plus.

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Relationship building ability and experience.

· Technically savvy and comfortable with new and evolving technologies.

· Superior writing ability and verbal communications skills.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. The association also uses MemberSuite for our Association Management System.

· Experience working within or with a trade association or nonprofit organization preferred.

Required Education & Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s or other advanced degree a plus.

· At least five years of relevant professional experience.

· Experience in the financial services industry is strongly preferred.

· Ability to manage multiple, complex issues and strong business acumen.

· High energy, self-motivated, positive attitude.

The Institute for Portfolio Alternatives (IPA) is the leading trade organization representing asset managers, broker-dealers, registered investment advisers and other entities that provide portfolio diversifying investments to investors.
