Employee Duties & Responsibilities
The CAD Technician will be responsible for creating 3D geometry for intricate products and tooling, generating 2D drawings, and preparing manufacturing and quality control documents. This key position bridges the gap between the creative phase and serial manufacturing, requiring expertise in product development, manufacturing processes, tooling, and document management ? all primarily conducted on a 3D CAD platform.
Key Accountabilities:
- Reporting to the manager of Engineering, create detailed 3D geometry, documents, and 2D drawings based on input from cross-functional teams, including product engineering, process development, manufacturing, and QC.
- Utilize 3D modeling software (Inventor & Rhino) and 2D drawing software (Rhino & AutoCad) to produce models, drawings, and standard operating procedures.
- Provide a managed work environment that openly promotes creativity, innovation, brainstorming, and individualism while ensuring alignment with company and process improvements.
- Work with Key stakeholders when going through the design process to ensure that designs follow scope and project planning.
- Develop and provide manufacturing drawings, fixtures, and production aides.
- Assist in the assembly of prototype and production parts and boats to ensure accurate build of product.
- Work with suppliers to design and order prototype parts to validate fitment and functionality prior to production ordering.
- Evaluate the most efficient tools for the job; then facilitate the use and storage of these tools.
- Evaluate parts and procedures on designs introduced in manufacturing.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
