Summary:
We are looking for a Director of Procurement and Production Planning who is analytical, driven, strategic, and creative. This individual will drive important Procurement and Production Planning activities including identification of suppliers, validation, contract review, purchasing, and performance management. The individual should possess a track record of successful relationship management, great communication skills, strong business, and analytical acumen. The Director of Procurement and Production Planning is responsible for direct category management in support of FDS bottling and wine operations while utilizing software to analyze, strategize and schedule production across winery operations. This role will work closely with key departments (marketing, sales, qc, compliance, purchasing and Production) to manage and update the workflow for all wine SKUs/product lifecycles, ensuring timely availability of our products, maintaining proper inventories, coordinating the proofing process, maximizing efficiency in stock orders/inventory turns, and anticipating and meeting customer demands.
In addition, the responsibilities of this role include working with procurement partners to support and oversee manufacturing raw material categories. This is a pivotal and highly visible role that engages with local operations, functions, and extended leadership teams on a regular basis. You'll be responsible for all aspects of inventory purchasing, invoice reconciliation and payments.
Working in conjunction with the finance department and sales and Production teams, you'll manage the end-to-end procurement process, supporting month-end closes, financial analysis, and reporting. This role requires not only a gift for numbers and keen attention to detail, but also the ability to represent FDS with suppliers and other vendors.

Requirements
You Will:

  • Responsible for the development of Procurement strategies through strategic sourcing and ongoing communication with stakeholders.
  • Create short- and long-term production plans with respect to winery capacity and consumer needs
  • Analyze and report out on inventory risks, trend evaluations, and supporting company strategies in order to meet fill rates and control inventories
  • Own/manage strategic supplier relationships and influencing strategy, negotiations and contracting, spend management, modeling and cost reduction roadmap execution, supplier financial health, supplier KPIs; develop and implement critical material sourcing strategies, supply chain risk reduction strategies.
  • Research and aid in the approval of secondary/alternate suppliers to support GMP/HACCP manufacturing
  • Manage procurement duties including vendor sourcing, request for quote (RFQ) preparation, request for proposals (RFP), purchase order terms and condition negotiation, proposal evaluations, and purchasing of dry goods/materials.
  • Focus on supplier management and performance of key relationships; partner with key suppliers to create advantageous/value-driven relationships.
  • Responsible for the purchasing of direct materials (may include glass, cartons, labels, closures, etc.); must monitor project-specific targets/buys.
  • Utilize data review and analysis in performance management, development and improvement of department, focusing on end-to-end value and bringing innovation to the business.
  • Liaise regularly with warehousing/logistics and material handlers to help inform purchasing decisions and aid in optimizing back-end functions (material planning, storage, movement of dry goods, etc.).
  • Develop material forecasts based on current product bill of materials (BOM) to ensure adequate holding stock at our critical suppliers' warehouses and adequate internal inventory levels/controls.
  • Will oversee, train, and advise procurement staff, while maintaining an eye on efficiency and cost control of departmental purchasing.
  • Research purchasing trends, threats/risks to the supply chain, and develop sourcing and procurement strategies to mitigate risk to the supply chain and ensure business continuity.
  • Serve as key member of cross-functional teams (risk management, etc.)
  • Maintain high working knowledge of industry trends and utilize market intelligence to guide strategies and goal setting
  • Provide report outs to Board and other management as requested
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

You Have:
  • Eight or more years of experience in supply chain / Production Planning, with at least 3 years at a senior managerial level
  • Wine (or food) industry manufacturing required
  • Deep experience in planning, scheduling, and inventory control
  • Strong individual contributor with the ability to self-direct with little supervision; must work routinely as an independent auditor, possessing deep understanding of supply chain and strong familiarity with winemaking, demand planning and wine manufacturing
  • Highly organized; proficient in MS Office
  • Experience with CI processes or process improvement management programs/software (Six Sigma, Agile, Transactional Lean, etc.) a big plus
  • Fluent in the creation, utilization, and measurement of SOPs
  • Must be able to work effectively with all levels of management; positive, engaged demeanor with the demonstrated ability to bring consensus and communicate effectively (oral and written)
  • Bachelor's degree required; degree in business or project management, supply chain, or a similar field a huge plus; equivalent work experience acceptable
  • High level of business acumen with the ability to analyze data and problem solve, forecast, and create advanced projections in a complex/matrixed environment; ability to synthesize insights into meaningful, actionable directions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to confidently present complex information to senior executives.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
  • Maintain, support and actively promote a safe working environment
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time (eight or more hours per day).
  • Ability to see and hear and respond to visual and auditory stimuli (due to equipment and related work/workflow of a warehouse environment, working with labels, dry goods, etc.) is likely required; may need to lift 20+ pounds at a time
  • Must be fully fluent in English; fluency or ability in Spanish a big plus but not required
