Techbridge Girls is an award-winning national nonprofit organization bringing science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education to all girls across the US. For over 20 years, TBG has reengineered the way STEM education is taught, centering girls’ brilliance and potential, with an emphasis on increasing STEM access, belonging, and persistence for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and people of color) youth from marginalized communities.

About the Position
The Director of Marketing and Communications is a key leadership role at Techbridge Girls. Partnering closely with the VP of Development and Communications, they will be responsible for informing and directing annual Marketing & Communications strategy, advertising and outreach campaigns, and public relations.
Team Direction & Supervision
- Team Leadership. In collaboration with the VP of Development and Communications, guide the day-to-day activities of the Marketing and Communications Team. Collaborate with the VP to develop and execute on strategy and support cross-department coordination.
- Strategy Execution. Analyze trends, assess internal capabilities, identify opportunities for improvement, and outline actionable steps to increase the team's impact and reach. Monitor and report on OKRs (Objectives and Key Results), regularly reviewing objectives, tracking progress against results, and making adjustments to ensure the team's efforts are effectively driving the desired impact.
- Budget Development & Monitoring. Support the VP with budget management, assisting with cost estimation associated with communications, advertising, and sales. Monitor expenses as assigned.
- Staff Supervision. Support an inclusive, equitable, team-based environment. Provide mentorship and guidance to staff in establishing individual work plans to support team goals; Cultivate a culture of collaboration; Identify areas for professional development.
- Reporting. Provide reports on the performance, as requested by the VP or CEO.
Communications Activities
- Communications and Brand Strategy. Develop and sustain a clear brand identity, positioning, messaging, and guidelines to guide all aspects of brand communication, fostering consistency and building a strong and memorable brand presence. Coordinate and schedule multichannel communications. Providing Training to internal staff and Board to promote consistency.
- Content Creation. Provide opportunities and collateral for public promotion, including working with contractors to create film, online efforts, etc.
- Conferences/Public Presence. Provide materials for events for in-person, on-site cultivation events, conferences, and other events as needed.
- Public Relations & Advocacy. Craft and disseminate press releases, public announcements, and partnership information, as well as prepare the CEO and team for public speaking engagements with presentations and talking points. Direct the distribution of thought leadership content across diverse media outlets, including TV, radio, podcasts, and online platforms. Establish relationships with local media outlets and journalists to ensure impactful media coverage.
- Advertising, Promotions, Outreach. Drive awareness, engagement, and financial support of TBGs services and programs through directing campaigns, overseeing content creation, and enabling sales and outreach.
- Development Communications. Support the Development department in achieving their fundraising goals by overseeing the creation of persuasive and engaging content for fundraising campaigns, including creating compelling ad copy, graphics, videos, and other multimedia content.
- Website Management. Direct the management of the TBG website, ensuring content is created, the U/I is effective, and usage is being analyzed and integrated into design decisions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
With the understanding that no one person will offer every desired skill and characteristic outlined below, compelling candidates will offer much of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field and/or equivalent work experience
- 7-10+ years of experience in a senior leadership position, with integrated marketing experience and demonstrated success enhancing organization awareness, generating revenue, and inspiring engagement
- At least 2 years of direct supervisory experience, with a demonstrated ability to lead and motivate staff.
- Experienced with e-mail marketing, media relations, advertising, print collateral, content creation, social media, etc.
- Knowledge of nonprofit communications best practices as related to advocacy, public relations, framing, fundraising and membership.
- Proficient in Adobe InDesign or Canva; not looking for a graphic designer but someone who thinks strategically, has an eye for design, and can roll up his or her sleeves as needed.
- Creative marketing agency experience is a plus.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a full-time, fully remote positionwith acomprehensive benefits package including health benefits, retirement, professional development, and more. The salary range for the role is $85,000 - $112,750, depending on experience and geography. Preference given to individuals located in Washington State, California, and DC.
