The City of Topeka is seeking a dynamic individual to serve on its executive leadership team as its Human Resources Director. This position originates and leads Human Resources practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce at the City of Topeka.
What youll do:
- Serve as a member of the Citys executive leadership team.
- Oversee employee relations programs that contribute to employee morale and ensure the City is an employer of choice.
- Develop innovative employee development and training programs that result in workforce readiness.
The ideal candidate is:

- Knowledgeable in all functional areas of Human Resources.
- An innovative and strategic thinker.
- Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks and exercise sound judgment.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Human Resources, public administration, business administration, organizational leadership, or a related field. Masters degree preferred.
- Five years of Human resource management experience required and three years of labor relations experience in a union environment.
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP is highly preferred. Additional licenses or certifications may be required.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Kansas Drivers License and be insurable within the standards of the City of Topeka insurance carrier.
Entry Annual Salary: up to $165,596 DOQ
