DESCRIPTION
The Director of Housing Operations will lead and oversee all aspects of Housing Operations at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Islander Housing is comprised of two different campus properties: Momentum Village and Miramar, totaling 2832 beds. This position will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the housing department including supervising maintenance, desk, leasing, budget management, staff supervision, and facility management. The Director will work closely with The Executive Director of Housing, the Director of Resident Live, other university departments and stakeholders to ensure that the housing program is student centered, meets the evolving needs of residents, while maintaining the highest standards of excellence and remains focused on student success.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for the housing department, including the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure a safe, healthy, and welcoming living environment for students.
- Manage and oversee the daily operations of the housing department, including customer service, inspections, resident communication, housing assignments, occupancy management, maintenance and repairs, and custodial services.
- Develop and manage the departmental budget, including revenue generation, expense control, marketing & communication strategies, and long-range financial planning.
- In coordination with staff they oversee, they will provide oversite and support to hire, train, supervise, and evaluate housing staff, including maintenance, custodial, customer service, and administrative support personnel.
- Collaborate with other university departments, including Facilities Management, Dining Services, Student Affairs, and Enrollment Management, to ensure coordinated and effective delivery of services to students.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance program that creates an excellent living environment for Islander students.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and reports on housing occupancy, expenditures, and other relevant metrics.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant university policies and procedures, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.
- Serve as a member of an on-call team rotation to respond to maintenance, facility, and operational needs outside normal business hours.
- Stay abreast of best practices and emerging trends in housing and residence life, and make recommendations for continuous improvement of the housing program.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- Bachelor's degree in higher education administration, business administration, or a related field.
- Ten (10) years of experience in Housing Operations. Previous management company experience considered.
- Additional education may be used as a substitution for the minimum experience requirement:
- Masters degree and eight (8) years of related experience.
- Doctoral degree and six (6) years of related experience.
- Demonstrated experience in managing a complex operation with multiple stakeholders, including staff team supervision, budget management, and policy development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and identities.
- Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations related to housing and residence life, as well as industry best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other departments and stakeholders, and to build positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and faculty.
- Experience with housing management software (StarRez) and other technology tools commonly used in higher education Housing Operations.
WHAT THEY WOULD LIKE TO SEE
- Master's degree preferred.
- Experience in Housing Operations, preferably in a higher education setting.
SALARY: $75,000 - $85,000 ANNUALLY, APPROXIMATELY.
Salary is dependent upon education and experience.
