Position Summary
Anticipated hiring salary range: $66,000-$90,000 per year
The Director of Foundation and Corporate Relations (Director) is responsible for contributing to the annual advancement fundraising goals by proactively and effectively pursuing foundation grant and Corporate opportunities which support the university strategic plan. The Director shall develop and steward beneficial Foundation and Corporate Relationships and shall oversee all grant proposals submitted to foundations. The Director will also be assigned events as it relates to Foundation and Corporate events as well as directed by the vice President for Advancement. The Director shall maintain and distribute regular reports related to all university grant proposal progress including such metrics as grant proposals submitted, grants won, and grants lost. The Director shall research, identify, catalogue, and regularly communicate grant funding opportunities sponsored by either government or foundations. The Director shall also provide research for the advancement office to identify Foundation and major corporate funding opportunities. The director serves as an integral part of the Advancement department and participates in advancement initiatives.

Duties:
  • Identifies foundations and corporations aligned with our mission and maintains mutually beneficial relationships with key foundation personnel.
  • Identifies and proactively applies for foundation grant funding supporting the university strategic plan and/or offsetting budgeted or planned expenses.
  • Reviews and oversees all foundation grant proposals developed by others to properly steward foundation relationships.
  • Constantly researches new grant and corporations for funding opportunities which may be of interest to others at the university.
  • Disseminates sponsored funding opportunities and information throughout the university.
  • Regularly reports on university metrics relative to sponsored funding programs including new funding opportunities, application proposals in process, proposals awarded, and dollar amounts.
  • Assists in reviewing sponsored funding guidelines for regulatory compliance and interprets sponsor guidelines and federal/state regulations.
  • Assists with sponsored funding proposals and budget development.
  • Assist with requests for proposals (RFP's) and with sponsor application forms as requested.
  • Assist with post-award non-fiscal issues, reporting, and project closeout.
  • Maintains accurate records for all Sponsored funders and keeps active notes on relationship activities in the department CRM.
  • Keeps detailed files on all projects related to Sponsored funding and keeps sponsored funding boilerplate current.
  • Conducts research and compiles information and data as assigned to support advancement department corporate and major donor acquisition and development.
  • Assists the advancement team in the planning and staffing of events as requested.
  • Complete tasks timely with work that is comprehensive, complete, and accurate.
  • Communicates clearly, listens attentively, and seeks to understand others
  • Collaborates productively with colleagues of varying skillset
  • Other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • Three to four years of experience in success researching and writing grant proposals, preferably in education or in a university advancement setting.
  • Strong written communication skills: ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals.
  • Organizational and time management skills to coordinate projects and people, prioritiez and track multiple projects simultaneously, and meet critical deadlines.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Preferred:
  • Master's degree in related field.
  • Five or six years of experience in success researching and writing grant proposals, preferably in education.

Environmental Conditions:
  • Indoors in a normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and temperature changes at least eighty percent (80%) of the time.
  • Frequent computer use at a workstation, up to eight hours per day.
  • Frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
  • Drive personal or University vehicles to appointments.
  • Public contact position requiring professional apparel, personal hygiene, and grooming.

Physical Demands:
  • This position typically functions indoors in an office environment with light to moderate noise associated with business office equipment. The position may involve travel for meetings and events.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: remain in a stationary position 80 % of the time, be able to move about inside the office to access file cabinets/office machinery etc., operate a computer and keyboard and other office productivity machinery such as calculators/copy machines/printers. The employee is occasionally required to position self to reach items on the floor and in high cabinetry.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Employee must be able to communicate with others to exchange information including both over the telephone and in-person communication with callers and community members and be able to read a computer screen and paper documents.
