Position Summary

Reporting to the Departmental Administrator/CFO and working closely with all Directors of Operations, Budget, Revenue Cycle and Human Resources, the Director will provide analytical, financial, and strategic support to the Department of Radiology and Joint Venture with partner hospital. The incumbent will be responsible for the following:


Responsibilities

  • Prepare all financial analytics to support business strategies: Develop business plans to support justification of new business opportunities for department and Joint Ventures. Prepare analytics and compile data to support acquisition / integration of new practices or Service Agreements. Prepare all business plans for joint ventures with CUMC and NYPH and justify expansion of programs with data and financial summaries.
  • Manage joint venture financial reporting including completion of CON schedules and annual reports in collaboration with CUIMC Controller's Office, FPO, NYPH finance teams, and Operations.
  • Manage NYP Joint Budget process including developing financial summaries to justify requests; provide ongoing reconciliation at line-item level; record funding changes on a monthly basis.
  • Track all funding arrangements; collaborate with NYP administrators as needed to track and analyze financial reports.
  • Establish trend reporting to evaluate/justify need for recruitment of new faculty; compile associated business plans.
  • Create reports that analyze volume trends, physician referral patterns, and RVU productivity data.  Implement standards to consistently and efficiently measure performance. Identify key results and trends and present information to stakeholders.
  • Utilize key metrics to develop trends analyses. Identify areas of needed improvements and make recommendations.
  • Serve as liaison to clinical faculty to review productivity reports.
  • Conduct analysis of Financial transactions between department and affiliated institutions.
  • Ensure services agreements expenses are allocated appropriately.
  • Work closely with revenue cycle team for calculating and/or validating revenue projections.
  • Work closely with budget team to ensure all expenses and revenues are appropriated allocated and variances are explained.
  • Supervise Finance Manager and Financial Analysts who manage monthly reconciliations, budget reporting, payroll reconciliations and clinical volume reporting.
  • Collaborate with Directors and teams in matrix organization with Operations, Budgets, Revenue Cycle, Human Resources and Billing and Revenue Cycle Director as it relates to all financial matters.
  • Participate with senior administrative team to present business plan, financial analytics and productivity projections.
  • Fulfill liaison role with CUIMC departments. Serve as departmental liaison in key relationships including joint venture financial activities, new business developments, and joint budget meetings.
  • Lead special projects with high complexity and high visibility.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor's degree plus seven (7) years of progressive related experience in a health care environment. Master's degree is highly preferred as well as fluent understanding of fund accounting and knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Excellent oral/written communication, professional, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly proficient in analytics, exceptional finance skills.
  • Exceptional computer skills, with emphasis on Excel, required to create and maintain complex financial models that employ many variables and various computer models. Prior experience with databases is essential.
  • Strong working knowledge of Financial systems. Knowledge of budgets, medical billing, and revenue cycle.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams in a fast paced, changing environment, take initiative, solve problems, lead projects, and perform multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Strong collaborative skills to work with multiple stakeholders in matrixed department and organization.
  • Exceptional leadership skills to manage and collaborate with teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (Pivot Tables including Look Ups, etc.) and University systems (ARC, COGNOS, & EPIC) are highly desirable.
