This position is responsible for the general oversight for the maintenance and fixed asset operations of, the Ivy Tech Marion Campus. (facilities, grounds, etc.). The campuses are to be safe, secure, attractive, clean, and in good functional and structural repair. Under the direction of the chancellor and executive Director of administration, ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Essential Functions and Major Responsibilities:
- In cooperation with the chancellor and executive Director of administration; assists with planning, including renovation projects and new construction. Identifies facility needs.
- Oversee the fixed assets on campus in accordance with college policies and procedures, as well as legal and regulatory requirements.
- In cooperation with campus leaders (e.g. chancellor, executive Director of administration, academic or student affairs leadership, etc.) prioritize needs, project scope, and corresponding budgets.
- In cooperation with campus and facility leaders, identify and prioritize long-term regional facility needs (including new leasehold, new construction, and cooperative or joint use facilities) to meet current and future needs.
- Manage the campus building maintenance operations (including janitorial services, etc.) and parking operations. Ensure the campus is a safe work and learning environment (e.g. OSHA standards compliance, code requirements, etc.).
- Manage environmental issues for compliance, as well as in emergency situations.
- Assists with the R&R and Parking Lot and Drive projects from planning through implementation.
- Assists with the campus facilities budget and expenditures. Prepare periodic budget estimate and reports; reviews financial reports to ensure operational efficiency.
- Supervise and makes recommendations for development of maintenance and facilities staff.
- Ensures college vehicles are clean, in good operating condition, properly fueled, and logs or records of usage are maintained in accordance with college policy.
- Represent the College at community meetings as they relate to campuses, facilities, etc.
- Maintain the building master floor plans. Ensure that Fixed Asset reports are current and accurate.
- Serves as a Campus Cabinet member.
- Prepares Facilities reports for the Campus Board of Trustees.

Tasks Associated with The Position:
- Electrical-New electrical installations and hook-ups, preventive maintenance, trouble-shooting, controls, and repairs.
- Plumbing-Water and pneumatic installations, repairs, and preventive maintenance. Includes all types of piping (galvanized/copper/PVC, etc.).
- Heating and Air Conditioning-Repairs, preventive maintenance, duct-work, trouble shooting and sheet metal work.
- Grounds-Landscaping, snow removal, maintenance of parking light poles and phone equipment, traffic control, preventive maintenance, and mowing.
- Motorized Equipment-Preventive maintenance and repair of trucks, trailers, etc.
- Building Construction-New installations, remodeling and preventive maintenance of ceilings, walls, floors, sub-structures, and super-structures.
- Safety-Hazard recognition, corrective procedures, OSHA regulations.
- Special Equipment-New installations, preventive maintenance, and repairs of specialized equipment such as furniture, etc.
- Miscellaneous-Equipment movement, relocation, and/or expansion, logistics, transportation, etc.
- Welding and cutting including cast iron and special metals.
- Custodial services including assisting with daily and/or annual cleaning and set-up/tear-down for special functions.
Education: Associate degree in a related field.
Experience: Five years related work experience or industry related certifications with 3 years related work experience is required. 2 years supervisory experience is preferred. Must have working knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems. Must have working experience with bid processes and repair agreements.
