Your day to day:The Director of School Facilities is responsible for the maintenance and operations of all facilities, buildings, grounds and equipment at DeKalb Central Schools. You primary functions will include: Culture & Leadership:Providing, designing and maintaining learning environments that support the current and future educational goals of DeKalb Central Schools learners.Directing the construction and renovations of all school educational, administrative, support and sports facilities.Determining the feasibility and priority of projects that are to be funded from either the operational fund or funding via referendum, bond, or other resources.
Accountability for Results & Managing Resources:Creating the annual budget and 3-year Capital Projects Plan identifying and prioritizing structural, environmental, traffic, and safety needs for all facilities.Directing the maintenance function for all buildings, grounds, and equipment:Ensuring compliance with national, state and local building, environmental and life safety codes.Managing multiple functional budgets and maintaining all building project records and schedules. Professional Development:Organizing and developing professional standards of operation for all locations in collaboration with strategic DeKalb Central departments to provide equitable learning environments and physical spaces.Directing the Energy Leadership Program that focuses on energy conservation standards (e.g., Energy Education) and systems to decrease energy waste through behavioral and capital improvements. Communication and Support:Leading community-based outreach and system-wide coordinated efforts to inform taxpayers and employees of the goals for a referendum to fund capital projects.Judging which DeKalb Central assets require continued or deferred maintenance/replacement and inform stakeholders of the rationale for making such judgments.Developing and implementing training programs for staff to ensure safe and effective maintenance, grounds and related program procedures.
Why we'll love you:You have worked hard to obtain a Bachelor's degree in construction management, business administration or a related field.You possess a valid driver's license.You have at least five years of combined construction management and supervisory experience.You have knowledge of ProCore and AutoCad technologies and project management software.You are knowledgeable in best practices for construction management and quality assurance.You have knowledge of procurement principles and practices, project management principles, and of procurement requirements for outside vendors bidding to work with DeKalb Central.You are a creative thinker and problem solver, an excellent communicator with strong collaboration skills and are a team player.You have excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.You are skilled in effective listening and communication and in presenting information professionally, concisely, and effectively, both verbally and in writing.You can provide sound judgment.
