*Job Summary:*
The Director of the Emergency Services Department plays a critical role in ensuring service excellence, growth, development, personnel management, and resource allocation. This position is responsible for maintaining high-quality patient care standards in the Emergency Department.
*Key Responsibilities:*
- Identify and address real/potential problems affecting the service, implementing solutions with follow-through and effective communication.
- Actively participate in service, departmental, and hospital-wide committees, providing ongoing communication to represent the department.
- Advance the patient experience agenda in the Emergency Department.
- Coach immediate subordinates, providing feedback, and constructive critique, facilitating individual development plans, and documenting job performance.
- Adhere to all Human Resource policies and effectively communicate departmental, organizational, and industry information to staff.
- Facilitate evidence-based employee engagement practices.
- Build strong relationships and networks to deliver organizational and department goals.
- Participate in employee and patient rounding, identifying and mentoring potential future leaders.
- Enforce standards of Emergency department care and develop processes to measure and ensure consistent compliance.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate an ongoing Emergency Services program ensuring quality patient care aligned with the Hospital mission.
- Monitor compliance with regulatory, accrediting, and hospital policies for patient services, environmental, and personnel safety.
- Oversee a PI program that monitors and evaluates critical aspects of care.
- Ensure departmental operational excellence, delivering quality services following policies, procedures, and professional standards.
- Follow the Hospital Exposure Control Plans/Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogens.
- Support the recruitment process to secure staffing talent.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
*Qualifications:*
- Bachelor's degree in nursing required.
- Master's degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in Emergency Services required.
- 3+ years of experience in a leadership role.
- Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state of practice.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
*Additional Details:*
- 200-bed hospital.
- 20-bed ER.
- No trauma designation.
- 100 patients/day.
- Behavioral Health specialty unit within ER.
- 40 FTEs. The manager reports directly to the Director. Actively recruiting CNCs for both day and night shifts.
- Mix of contract labor and perm employees.
- Position reports to hospital CNO.
*Requirements:*
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
3-5 years of ED Leadership experience (nurse manager or nurse director).
