Job description

Our client is seeking a Digital Merchandising Director to create a best-in-class customer experience by driving the strategy and execution of all online site merchandising for their retail/wholesale websites and app.  Responsibilities include creating alignment between product strategies and customer journeys to drive merchandising opportunities, optimizing product navigation and promoting product discovery, and analyzing product performance to provide insights that help accelerate the growth of their ecommerce business.  This is not a remote role, and they are an in-office culture, 5 days (with 3:00 Fridays year-round).  Our client will offer relocation assistance for the right candidate.  The salary range is 150-195k BOE.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement data-driven site merchandising strategies that maximize engagement, sales, and conversion for all product categories at the same time promoting product discovery.

  • Strategically optimize the product category hierarchy to ensure efficient navigation, improved searchability, and increased conversion rates.

  • Use analytics tools to generate insights to inform decisions on category organization, product placement, and navigation enhancements.

  • Make recommendations for optimizing desktop and mobile homepage layout designs after analyzing browsing and engagement data. 

  • Optimize revenue through customer segmentation (new vs. returning customers, geographic, category affinity).

  • Collaborate with the merchandising and marketing team to develop site launch plans for new product introductions. 

  • Build and maintain site audit schedule and perform frequent site audits to share opportunities with cross-functional teams.

  • Collaborate in the planning and execution of site updates in correlation with all marketing, sale and seasonal brand needs.

  • Identify cross-sell and up-sell strategies and oversee implementation and performance to maximize sales and build customer baskets.

  • Manage internal site search technology to implement intuitive product browse and search strategies, optimized internal search rules and advanced product recommendations.

  • Optimize search results and filters to improve user satisfaction and drive conversion.

  • Implement SEO best practices to enhance the visibility of key product categories on search engines.

  • Maintain SEO-friendly URLs, headers, and meta tags for category pages.

  • Optimize category pages with relevant keywords to ensure they provide a clear hierarchy for both users and search engines.

  • Generate regular reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to website merchandising (Key Campaigns, Homepage, Category, Sub-Category and Global Navigation Performance).

  • Provide insights and recommendations for improvement based on analytics. 

  • Stay abreast of industry trends and conduct regular competitor analysis to identify opportunities and areas for improvement.

  • Benchmark the website performance against industry standards and competitors.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Experience with Fast Simon, Algolio, Nosto, or Similar is required

  • Experience with Shopify Plus, Google Analytics, Tapcart a plus

  • Must be product savvy

  • Experience working with and managing external agencies

  • Entrepreneurial work ethic but collaborative in process

  • Roll up your sleeves work ethic

  • Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner
