Reports to: Head of School
Fort Bend Christian Academy is seeking a dynamic leader to oversee the successful development of a rigorous and standards-based curriculum for the 2024 - 2025 school year. The Director of Curriculum and Instruction will assume responsibility for the implementation of the curricular program, including standards, curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional learning, in all grade levels and content areas. The ideal candidate will work actively with division administration and faculty to develop Curriculum and Instructional practices that meet the needs of students in an independent Christian school setting.
Qualifications
- A mature evangelical Christian who supports FBCA's Statement of Faith and whose lifestyle is consistent with the school's Declaration of Values.
- Able to articulate a deep, biblically-centered philosophy of Christian Education.
- A Master's Degree in Education, Educational Leadership or Curriculum and Instruction from an accredited university.
- Prior teaching experience and at least three years of leadership experience.
- Knowledge and ability to be an expert on Curriculum and methods of instruction for the school.
- Possess successful experience designing and delivering professional development.
- Exhibit strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting and productive relationships.
- Exceptional personal speaking, writing, and communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with outstanding attention to detail.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data to inform curriculum decision-making and Instructional practices.
- Pursue continuing professional education and growth.
- Ability to work occasional nights and weekends.
- Preference will be given to applicants with previous independent school experience.
Scope of Responsibilities
- Reports to the Head of School and serves as a member of the Executive Leadership Team.
- Assists the Head of School in supervising and monitoring the Academic Leadership Team.
- Monitors, supervises and evaluates additional staff hired in the Office of Curriculum and Instruction for the purpose of supporting curricular and Instructional practices and ensuring alignment in the school.
- Partners with the Director of Spiritual Life to support the immersion of a Biblical Worldview into the planning and delivery of instruction within all content areas.
- Collaborates with the Head of School and Division Administration to create, develop, and evaluate short-term and long-term goals pertaining to Curriculum and Instruction.
- Oversees the implementation of a rigorous academic program that aligns with the school's mission, vision, strategic initiatives, and policies that include curriculum development and improvement and effective instructional practices.
- Conducts observations of every teacher once per academic year and provides timely feedback to the teacher and division head.
- Works collaboratively with faculty to provide guidance and leadership on the development and maintenance of a comprehensive curriculum including standards, scope and sequence documents, lesson plans, and assessment strategies
- Uses data to make decisions and adjustments to the curriculum program, to improve student achievement and to increase teacher efficacy.
- Applies research-based best practices to improve content, sequence, and results of the teaching and learning process.
- Supervises the selection and adoption of new textbooks, instructional resources, and methods.
- Develops professional development opportunities, including training, for faculty and administration to enhance instructional performance and student achievement.
- Coordinates the implementation of the Learning Management System (LMS) as it relates to curriculum, instruction, and assessment with the support of staff in the Office of Informational Technology.
- Communicates effectively with school stakeholders.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Head of School.
