Primary Purpose:
The Director ofPrimary STEM Curriculum and Instruction (Grades K-5) is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating the Primary School STEM curriculum for Uplift Education. The Director ofDirector ofPrimary STEM Curriculum and Instruction creates the network vision for Curriculum and oversees the network Curriculum and IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) implementation at all Uplift Middle School campuses. The Director ofPrimary STEM Curriculum and Instruction manages the Primary School STEM Curriculum and Instruction Specialists to create resources, professional development, and programming for all grades/content areas. The Director ofPrimary STEM Curriculum and Instruction is responsible for the development and performance management of the team of Primary School STEM Curriculum and Instruction Specialists. The Director ofPrimary STEM Curriculum and Instruction works with the President, Chief of Schools, and the Managing Director of Curriculum on the broader Primary School academic strategy and assists the Teaching and Learning Team in yearly hiring cycles.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Establishes the vision and strategy for Primary School Curriculum and Instruction and coordinates with other Directors to ensure K-12 alignment, transdisciplinary connections, and the fidelity of implementation of Uplift's curriculum on all campuses
  • Manages the growth and development of Curriculum and Instruction Specialists through onboarding, regular professional development at team meetings, shadows, observations, and one-on-one meetings
  • Leads Curriculum and Instruction Specialists through performance management, goal setting, disciplinary action, and scheduling regular meetings
  • Executes hiring and performance improvement plans of members of the primary curriculum team
  • Leads curriculum team leadership meetings in partnership with Primary School Managing Directors, Managing Director of Curriculum, and President
  • Develops network leaders in curriculum implementation and content
  • Plans and facilitates professional development for leader groups across all schools
  • Assists directors in implementing content-specific professional development on instructional planning and IB Standards and Practices
  • Provides recommendations and support to Directors and Deans on methods to support teachers in content areas based upon student assessment data
  • Participates in all Internal School Visits and Mock IB Visits to provide feedback around instruction, curriculum, intervention, and IB implementation
  • Works with Data Team to document campus, teacher, and student subgroup performance and track progress toward organizational and school goals
  • Designs, refines, and implements a rigorous review process for network Common Assessments with teachers, course leaders and department chairs, and school directors
  • Monitors and evaluates the creation and updates for all network Curriculum and its organization on
  • Supports individual school's IB (PYP, MYP, or DP) application and authorization processes

Education, Experience, and/or Certification(s)
  • Education Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree (B. A. / B.S.) from four-year college or university required. Master's degree preferred but not required.
    • Experience Requirements:
      • Experience with curriculum writing and inquiry-based instruction.
      • International Baccalaureate experience, including understanding of IB instructional and planning practices, is preferred.
      • At least one or more years as a Dean (Assistant Principal), or Director (Principal) is highly preferred.
      • Demonstrated leadership experiences providing teachers and/or leaders with content-specific professional development and/or coaching feedback is required.
      • Demonstrated and measurable student achievement in the content area on state, nationally norm-referenced tests, or college readiness exams (ACT, SAT, IB, AP, etc.) is required

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel, students, and parents required. Ability to speak publicly and deliver professional development and Instruction to adults is required.
  • Bilingual Skills: N/A
  • Technology: Proficiency in Office 365 products and Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.) products is required.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment: Travel to our schools is required. Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation are required. The primary job responsibilities will be indoors in an office or school setting.
Starting Salary: $90,000
