Primary Purpose:
This position will assist the Director of Curriculum and Professional Development with the development and implementation of the division's grades PreK-12 academic and special programs. This individual will also provide leadership to support the SCUC ISD Strategic Plan, District Improvement Plan and Professional Learning Plan and state and federal programs.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Master's Degree
- Valid Texas Teacher Certification
- Principal or Mid-Management Certification, preferred
- Teacher Appraiser Certification (T-TESS), preferred
- Principal Appraiser Certification (T-PESS), preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, including the ability to make presentations to parent and community groups, school and city officials
- Knowledge of the written, taught and tested curriculum design, development, and implementation process.
- Knowledge about State and Federal laws regarding the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and the Instructional Materials and Technology Allotment (IMTA).
- Knowledge about Bilingual/ESL programs, Advanced Academics, Gifted/Talented Education and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).
Experience:
- Minimum five years classroom teacher experience
- Minimum five years instructional leadership, preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Collaborate with the Director of Curriculum and Professional Development to create, develop and implement the district professional learning plan and calendar for all campuses and departments to include, but not limited to, professional learning related to the District Strategic Plan and Improvement Plan.
- Collaborate with the Director of Curriculum and Professional Development to create and develop new teacher, mentor and new teacher liaison trainings; as well as Inspire Academy to onboard new educators
- Collaborate with Executive Directors of Education and Director of Campus Leadership support to provide professional learning and support for campus leaders and instructional coaches in implementing district Curriculum and instructional resources.
- Work cooperatively with the Executive Directors of Education and Director of Campus Leadership support in assisting campuses with developing and implementing a professional learning plan aligned to campus and district goals.
- Participate in professional learning programs to improve job performance; share ideas and information with other educators; and provide leadership in identifying best practices, trends, and opportunities for growth and improvement in Curriculum and instruction.
- Under the guidance of the Chief Academic Officer and in collaboration with the Coordinator for State and Federal Programs collect and organize data for the annual completion of the consolidated ESSA application, amendments, and compliance report.
- Ensure compliance for all ESSA federal formula grant programs (Title I Part A, Title I Part C, Title II Part A, Title III Part A, Title IV Part A).
- Provide guidance on expenditures for all funds/grants/accounts within the ESSA grant.
- Collaborate with the Coordinator for State and Federal Programs regarding instructional materials adoptions, requests for additional resources, and the inventory and supervision of instructional materials to and on campus.
- Oversee and provide guidance on the Instructional Materials and Technology Allotment (IMTA) fund and assist Coordinator for State and Federal Programs in submitting the required documentation for the purchase of instructional materials.
- Provide vision and development for the District's Advanced Academics program in which staff and students experience opportunities to engage in rigorous preparation for advanced learning aligned to college readiness.
- Ensure ongoing communication and collaboration with parents, students, district stakeholders, external agencies, and the community to strengthen the effectiveness of Advanced Academics.
- Collaborate with District and campus leadership to form decisions for Advanced Academics program improvement and sustainability utilizing student and teacher performance data.
- Provide instructional leadership for advanced academics courses and support to AP Campus Coordinators, Dual Credit Campus Coordinators and IB Coordinator in assisting teachers in meeting the advanced academic needs of students.
- Oversee and organize our Elementary/Intermediate Academic UIL clubs and events in collaboration with the G/T Specialist; provide guidance and support to junior high and high school Academic UIL coordinators.
- Provide support and guidance to the Bilingual/ESL/LOTE Coordinator and Gifted and Talented (G/T) Specialist in the development and implementation of effective instructional programs for emergent bilingual (EB) and gifted and talented students.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the Bilingual/ESL and G/T instructional programs on an annual basis and coordinate any needed plan for improvement.
- Provide support in ensuring that all campuses and staff implement the Bilingual/ESL and G/T program requirements that are consistent with federal and state law.
- Oversees the District's Multi-tiered Systems of Support Program (MTSS), including ensuring campus level implementation of Response to Intervention (RtI), Accelerated Instruction (HB4545/1416) and Enrichment (G/T) as well as Campus Student Success Teams (CSST) and regular progress monitoring.

- Compile, maintain, and file, and secure all reports, records, and other required documents related to ESSA and TIMA.
- Provide federal and state guidelines/regulatory technical support to campus and district staff.
- Provide support for ESSA grant requirements for parent, family and community engagement.
- Facilitate parent requests for and involvement in instructional materials adoptions and use as required by law.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with adopted instructional materials vendor contacts.
- Join appropriate associations and attend meetings to stay up-to-date on current laws and guidance.
- Maintain emotional control under stress.
- Frequent district-wide travel and occasional state-wide travel.
