Performs receptionist, registration, and clerical duties associated with direct and scheduled patient admissions. Identifies and refers patients who might have financial difficulty. Answers incoming calls to the switchboard and routes calls appropriately.
Reports to: Supervisor Patient Access
Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent required, may be substituted year for year with directly related experience.
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take quick, appropriate action, remaining calm.
Knowledge of medical terminology strongly preferred.
Basic telephone skills and etiquette.
Proficiency in keyboarding and Microsoft Office products - Word and Outlook
Strong interpersonal skills in working with diverse customer base.
Minimum Work Experience
Previous customer service experience and switchboard experience is strongly preferred.
