Reporting to the Chief Creative Officer, the Director of Communications will have the responsibility of driving the communications and public relations for the overarching Powder Mountain brand as it evolves from a local cult classic ski resort into a global second-home alpine community with a sophisticated art, architecture, and outdoor recreation program.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

• Strategy Development: Design and implement a comprehensive PR and communications strategy that repositions Powder as a global brand and promotes its real estate offerings
• Media Relations: Serve as the primary media contact, developing strong relationships with local, regional, and industry-specific journalists and influencers, developing relationships with both endemic and broader cultural publications. Manage media inquiries, interview requests, and press tours.
• Brand Messaging: You will be the voice of Powder Mountain, to the world. Craft compelling messages and narratives that resonate with our target audiences and aspirational demographics, ensuring consistency across all platforms and mediums.
• Crisis Management: Develop and execute crisis communication plans, maintaining poise and professionalism in high-pressure situations to protect the brand's integrity.
• Stakeholder and Community Relations: Build and maintain relationships with all stakeholders in the project from local community, ownership group, and partners. Organize and participate in community events that promote the resort.
• Analytics: Monitor, analyze, and report on PR campaign results and media coverage, adjusting strategies as necessary to improve effectiveness.
• Budget Management: Manage the PR and communications budget, ensuring efficient use of resources and a high return on investment
• Employee & Internal Communications: Internal employee communications as assigned by the Chief People Officer, broadcasting and aligning our vision internally including weekly round-up one-sheets and internal memos.
• Agency Management: Serve as the key management and execution touch point with selected PR agency
• Copywriting: Assist in copy development where needed.

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of public relations & media experience
• Collaborative work style - supporting teams and organizational changes
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong leadership capabilities and experience managing a team.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle crisis communication with composure.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong network of media contacts is desirable.
• Ability to move fast, be bold, and thrive in a dynamic environment

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull moderate amount of weight (up to 40lbs+)
• Sufficient physical ability and mobility to walk, sit and stand for prolonged periods of time
• Manual dexterity to operate a computer and other common office equipment on a constant basis
• Frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp, and make repetitive hand movements
• Ability to safely take part in all activities The Company is providing to our guests (skiing, boarding, mountain biking, hiking, snowmobiling, etc...)
