Director of Revenue Accounting
What You Do: The Director of Revenue Accounting is responsible for the consistent application of revenue recognition policies, procedures and controls. This role is crucial to the order-to-cash process. This role will work closely with Sales, Sales Operations and FP&A. Ideal candidates will have a strong working knowledge of ASC 606 and direct experience leading the full revenue accounting process.
Day-in-the-Life: As a Director Revenue Accounting, a typical day may include the following…
- Maintain revenue accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP requirements (ASC 606).
- Perform month-end close activities and account reconciliations including deferred revenue, and accounts receivable.
- Work closely and collaboratively with Sales team and Sales Operations to proactively ensure a high level of integrity around revenue recognition This includes reviewing contracts, order forms, and statements of work to identify appropriate billing and revenue recognition.
- Provide ad-hoc analysis for revenue and customer-related data for various product offerings.
- Initiate business processes and financial system improvements.
- Coordinate with the FP&A team to forecast revenue in future periods
- Be the lead point of contact for the external auditors for all revenue related inquiries
- Management of Revenue Accounting staff
Qualifications
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting of finance strongly preferred.
- 7+ years’ of accounting and revenue accounting experience.
- CPA and public accounting or working for a public company preferred.
- Experience working for a SaaS company a plus.
Skills:
- Ability to work in multiple systems and quickly move from one system to another. Interest and aptitude handling a high volume of data processing.
- Understanding of GAAP and related revenue recognition concepts.
- Well-developed problem-solving, mathematical, and analytical skills.
- Able to discern alternatives, make objective recommendations, and understand how to work with other business groups to accomplish goals.
- Excellent communication skills in dealing with external and internal customers including upper levels of management.
COMPENSATION: $150,000 to $185,000 + bonus
