Job Title: Director of Nursing, Pediatric Trauma Overview: As the Director of Nursing for our Pediatric Level 1 Trauma Program, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and coordinating all aspects of trauma care delivery within Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital. This role demands a leader with a strong clinical background, exceptional managerial skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategies for the enhancement and growth of the Pediatric Trauma program in alignment with organizational goals and standards.
- Team Leadership: Provide leadership and guidance to the trauma care team, ensuring collaboration, effective communication, and adherence to best practices in Pediatric Trauma care.
- Quality Improvement: Drive initiatives to maintain and improve the quality of trauma care services, regularly evaluating protocols, procedures, and outcomes.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory bodies, including but not limited to state, federal, and accreditation agency requirements.
- Resource Management: Oversee the allocation of resources, including staffing, equipment, and supplies, to support efficient and effective trauma care delivery.
- Education and Training: Develop and implement educational programs for staff to enhance their skills and knowledge in Pediatric Trauma care.
- Collaboration: Foster collaborations with other departments, healthcare providers, community organizations, and stakeholders to optimize patient care and outcomes.
- Data Analysis: Analyze data related to trauma care, identifying trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities to enhance patient care and safety.
- Patient Advocacy: Serve as an advocate for Pediatric Trauma patients and their families, ensuring their needs are met and promoting a patient-centered care approach.
- Registered Nurse (RN) with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Master’s degree in Nursing or related field preferred.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of New York, with relevant certifications in Pediatric Trauma care preferred.
- Progressive leadership experience in pediatrics and/or trauma care, preferred.
- Strong understanding of quality care protocols, improvement methodologies, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills with the ability to lead and motivate a multidisciplinary team effectively.
- Proficiency in data analysis and utilization of data to drive quality improvement initiatives.
- The ability to develop and execute strategic plans for program development and enhancement.
Experience:
6 years of professional nursing experience, including 3 years at a supervisory level, required.
