**This is a remote based position.
Job Summary
The National Access Director will play a critical part in ensuring the organization is well positioned with current and new product payer coverage by removing payer-related barriers to products ensuring broad patient access while balancing corporate revenue objectives. The position will be the primary owner of relationships with National and Regional Payers (commercial IDNs, Pathway Companies and other customers to ensure physician and patient access to products with favorable or parity formulary access. In addition, this role will provide oversight of specialty pharmacy partners to ensure contract performance expectations are met.
Job Responsibilities
- Creation of strategies and tactics which align to overall product approaches for national and regional payers (commercial) key health systems, integrated delivery networks, and other emerging customers of importance as identified.
- Develops tactical plan and execution strategy in coordination with other Commercial partners, leadership, Marketing and Sales teams as applicable.
- Works collaboratively with established accounts, emerging entities, and appropriate channels to establish the company and brand awareness.
- Analyze and understand the oncology market access environment and purchasing dynamics of all assigned customers.
- Serve as subject matter expert on market access environment including evolving payment/reimbursement models.
- Assists and supports commercial organization in areas of reimbursement access and patient support, and key account team management.
- Collaborates and communicates with internal customers on account strategy, plans, and execution.
- Performs a range of market, financial, competitive, and industry analyses for respective area of responsibility.
- Solicit, embrace, and action on feedback from internal and external stakeholders.
- Exercise sound judgment and oversight to ensure integrity and compliance with corporate policies in all activities and communications.
- Manages systemic payer policy issues.
- Manage relationships and contract performance of PBMs, when applicable.
- Oversight of specialty pharmacy network and partners to ensure performance aligns with contractual obligations.
- Partner closely with PEMs and Director of Practice Experience Management to support and address systemic payer policy issues that arise.
- Attend and participate in meetings and conferences as needed.
Qualifications
- Prior experience with oncology required.
- Deep understanding of the US payer environment, and how decisions are made across private and public channels.
- Experience working with IDN’s is a must.
- Prior launch experience with oncology and/or small patient population products preferred.
- Ability to establish and enhance customer relations with industry influencers, varied and complex payer stakeholders, and key strategic partners. This includes the ability to effectively engage and leverage complex account management in wide and evolving customer base.
- Experience developing and executing comprehensive business development plans, budgets, and programs, both short and mid-range; to support commercial and revenue objectives of the organization.
- Strong verbal, written communication, and presentation skills; able to communicate in a concise, engaging, and convincing manner.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to deliver reports, plans, and presentations to multiple audience types in a concise, engaging and impactful manner.
- Strong knowledge of trends, issues, and policies impacting oncology sites of care to include both community and institutional (in and out-patient) locations.
- Understanding of emerging payer reimbursement models to include guidelines, compendium, and clinical pathway implementation.
- Ability to access and influence various functional areas and motivate groups to action.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong orientation to customer service and teamwork.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in any of the following areas: payer/PBM, market access strategy, channel relationships, account management or other relevant fields. Prefer at least 5 years’ experience in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, oncology, advocacy or related healthcare environment.
- Must be able to work in a team environment and be customer service oriented.
Working Conditions
- This is a US remote based, work from home position with occasional travel to team and customer meetings.
- Must be able to sit for long periods at a desk and be able to read and review large quantities of printed or online material.
