Location: This position will be fully remote with 35% travel expectation to support Northeast units and operations.

Salary: $120,000-135,000 + bonus

Position Purpose:

The Director, HRBP advises unit management on the administration of Human Resources (HR) objectives, programs and policies for a geographic segment of business. In collaboration with the Regional HR Director, this role coaches and counsels' management on a broad range of HR topics focused on driving employee performance, employee development, strategy and workforce planning to strengthen overall business performance. Fosters and ensures partnerships across HR functions to engage expertise required to both predict human resource needs and diagnose emerging trends. Maintains a deep understanding of the business including financial position, mid and long range plans, key environmental factors and competitive indicators.

The Director, HRBP, reporting to Regional HR Director, will serve as an extension of Sodexo Live's Human Resources Team by providing HR leadership in the geographic assign area. They will position themselves as a strategic Business Partner, teaming with the Regional HR Director and VP, Head of HR Operations(as needed), in establishing objectives and priorities for their geographic area of responsibility. The Director, HRBP will work closely with the Regional HR Director, as well as assigned general managers, and onsite management teams to provide counsel on local, state and Federal compliance issues and interpretation of company policies and procedures. They will support their assigned geographic area through providing training and assistance with recruitment and retention strategies, as well as guidance on matters of employee relations.

The Director, HRBP will operate with sufficient independence to ensure fairness and objectivity for all employees, embodying the EVP while supporting Sodexo Live's vision, mission and values.

Major Responsibility

Leverage the capabilities of the workforce in the field by supporting HR Managers and on-site operational managers in the implementation and maintenance of day-to-day HR practices.

Supporting Actions:

  • Consult with Regional HR Director to align Human Resources strategy and programs with each location's operational goals and objectives.
  • Manage employee relations to ensure positive employee-employer relationships and to promote a high level of employee commitment.
  • Collaborate with Regional HR Director to serve as a consultative resource for each unit.
  • Continually monitor all aspects and areas of HR operations to ensure optimal accuracy and efficiency.
  • In collaboration with Labor Relations and The Regional HRD, lend union expertise for matters of grievances, arbitrations and contract negotiations in environments where third-party representation exists.
  • Conduct regular audits of assigned units according to established and approved schedule; Work to drive compliance with Sodexo Live! policies as well as local, state and Federal mandates.
  • Support investigations to resolve all external and internal charges, complaints of harassment and/or discrimination, as requested; Apply understanding of key precedents, policies and practices to protect Sodexo Live's interests.
  • Support the assigned area's recruitment and selection practices to ensure that the greatest number of highly qualified candidates are referred for each open position.
  • Partner with the Regional HRD advising management regarding succession planning, promotions, reclassifications and transfers.
  • Support the delivery of training activities in accordance with compliance requirements.

End Results: Service, revenue and profit goals are achieved; employee satisfaction and retention goals are achieved; Standards are achieved for all HR metrics, with no regulatory violations and no serious employee actions.

Communicate and promote Sodexo Live's culture and values; Provide hands-on leadership and direction to General Managers, unit-level HR Managers (and those with unit HR responsibilities); Serve as a role model for Unit Managers and operations teams.

  • Engage HR managers, and those with HR responsibilities at the unit level, through interactive rapport and in-person support; Facilitate team effectiveness and create a positive and motivational environment.
  • Guide, support and counsel HR managers, and those with HR responsibilities at the unit level, Execute responsibilities for performance coaching, discipline, assessment and initiating pay adjustments as required.
  • Actively participate in each unit's recruitment, selection and training processes as necessary.
  • Ensure that optimum staffing levels exist for operational success. Support current business goals by lending expertise and sharing best practices for cost effective labor models by minimizing the use of temporary staffing and increasing the Sodexo Live! "experience makers" population.
  • Cultivate involvement with local charitable organizations by supporting the recruitment of non-profit organizations where possible.
  • Establish goals, benchmarks and timelines for on-going career development of on-site teams and measure success.
  • Ensure standardization, fairness and consistency in HR practices throughout assigned area of responsibility.
  • Expediently resolve questions, concerns and issues through consultation with Regional HRD.

Dimensions

A Director, HRBP, reporting to the Regional HRD, will typically be assigned numerous accounts, within a defines area, in varied sizes and will be recognized as a Business Partner within the assigned geographic area. This professional will have deep understanding of Human Resources practices, policies and procedures and will resolve simple, moderate and some complex issues affecting a broad range of staff. Works on diverse initiatives, analyzes a variety of factors to recommend and implement solutions in collaboration with Regional HRD. Normally receives limited instruction on day-to-day assignments with explicit guidance on new tasks and projects.


Job Qualifications/Skills

Required:

  • 5+ years experience as a senior-level HR generalist.
  • Bachelor's degree in HR management, organizational development or related field preferred.
  • Exceptional and up-to-date knowledge of Human Resources practices, laws and principles.
  • Previous multi-unit HR responsibilities within the food service, hospitality or similar industry.
  • Background in training design and delivery; Excellent presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with strong ability to promote and participate in team environment concepts.
  • Ability to create and understand written and oral direction and to communicate same with others.
  • Knowledge of organizational development and design.
  • HR Certification or equivalent designation is preferred.
  • Strong ability to analyze data and prepare reports and statements as needed.
  • Technology savvy, with excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software; Success Factors, Lawson system experience, among others is highly desired.
  • Knowledge of Time and Attendance systems and time clocks is helpful.
  • Proven ability to work with multiple levels of staff and management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Initiative in identifying and resolving problems timely and effectively.
  • Ability to prioritize and successfully manage multiple and competing priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to promote and participate in team environment concepts.
  • Ability to understand written and oral direction and to communicate same with others.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and on several tasks/projects simultaneously, and who can contribute to functional areas of the business outside of the finance area.
  • Initiative in identifying and resolving problems timely and effectively.
  • Flexibility and mobility to travel up to 35% and meet the needs of various locations.
  • Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays with intermittent travel.
