POSITION SCOPE
Join a growing team with a unique opportunity to impact Diabetic patients around the world and build from the ground up a new supply chain. embecta is the spin-off of the BD Diabetes Care business to promote faster growth for both companies and this critical role will be responsible for co-developing a global supply chain strategy and achieving operational performance with direct accountability for Global Logistics and Trade Center of Excellence, cost center management, and execution of critical supply chain initiatives.
The primary responsibility and scope of the role encompasses, but is not limited to, the following:
• E2E Supply Chain strategy and design
• Deploying a Global Center of Excellence (standard work - people, process, analytics and technology)
• Executing our Global 3PL strategy across logistics and trade
• Supply Chain Initiatives with associated project management
The Director, Global Supply Chain and Logistics, reports directly to the Vice President of Global Supply Chain. The role will be required to establish a stand-alone Diabetes Care Supply Chain with primary focus on Logistics and Trade. Prioritizing what's essential and building a long-term roadmap for supply chain excellence while maintaining business continuity for all key operating metrics. The role will require accelerated talent development and change management to achieve the required outcomes.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute global supply chain and logistics strategy to achieve required business outcomes.
  • Establish best in class 3PL management standards and deploy governance model globally.
  • Design and deploy global standards for warehousing, transportation, trade, and other associated areas within end-to-end supply chain.
  • Identify cost savings and optimization opportunities to achieve targets.
  • Collaborate across functions and business leader to meet customer expectations for product delivery.
  • Create logistics and trade key performance leading indicators and (Quality/Service/Cost/Environmental) metrics leveraging competitive industry benchmarking.
  • Develop global standard 3PL, Transportation, and Broker contracts and work with supporting functions to negotiate required outcomes.
  • Effectively manage Global Logistics and trade cost center performance to achieve business goals.
  • Set up and manage our global Freight Audit and Pay partner in partnership with Finance.
  • Partner with Global Network team to establish and optimize our global end to end supply chain footprint.
  • Proactively develop global supply chain and logistics innovations to improve customer loyalty, lower total landed costs, and achieve business objectives.
  • Partner across functions to develop our sustainability roadmap and measures of success.
  • Ensure Trade compliance for international shipments applicable to all laws / regulations.
  • Identify and lead global execution of continuous improvement opportunities for global supply chain.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for Global Logistics and trade and lead all functions to exceed business goals.
  • Design and deploy risk mitigation and business continuity plans to ensure continuity of supply chain.
  • Create focused talent engagement and development plans.
  • Ensure global cross-functional compliance to all trade, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Stand up our global control tower and end-to-end supply chain visibility capabilities.
  • Research and remain current with industry trends and deploy solutions within our organization to optimize total global supply chain performance.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of ten years' experience managing as significant scope of supply chain and logistics at a senior level, in a complex global organization with a reputation for excellence in supply chain performance.
  • Strong Global Logistics and trade domain expertise with minimum of five years managing global 3PL's, transportation, and broker partners.
  • Strong preference for experience standing up a Global Center of Excellence including designing and deploying policies, process, performance metrics and analytics, and enabling technology.
  • Demonstrated thorough understanding of competitive benchmarks across supply chain operations and leveraging to set and deploy global standards.
  • Proven track record of setting a supply chain vision and 3-5 year strategy with completing associated business cases for investment and achieving committed outcomes.
  • Leadership with end-to-end supply chain management and customer centric operations from raw materials through customer delivery.
  • Direct leadership experience with ERP system conversions, mergers, acquisitions, and/or divestitures
  • Experience across other Supply Chain functions (plan, source, make and deliver) with primary strengths in logistics domain.
  • Quantified results improving customer experience metrics while simultaneously optimizing total landed costs year over year as a percentage of sales.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop talent and lead people to achieve extraordinary outcomes together.

  • Effectively manage and work with a virtual team; ability to influence peers, executive leadership, and other functions without direct control to deliver performance objectives.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and function effectively under strict timelines and pressure.
  • Strong change management skills - embraces change; proven change agent with track record of ability to implement effective change management programs to exceed business outcomes.
  • Demonstrate an "intellectually curious" and "continuous improvement" mindset with Lean Sigma application.
  • Highest levels of personal and professional integrity.
  • Strong computer skills including familiarity with ERP/SAP (implementations, transitions, systems connectivity with other global supply chain management and/or execution systems).
  • Demonstrated innovation and customer centric approach to global supply chain and logistics

EDUCATION:
  • A Bachelor's degree is required in supply chain, engineering or business field.
  • An MBA, Masters in Engineering or Finance is preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Lean/Six Sigma certification preferred

OTHER REQUIREMTNS:
  • Location: Remote, however northeast US (Eastern Time Zone) and/or Western Europe domicile is preferred
  • Depending upon location, ability to travel globally 20-25% of the time at steady state and 30-40% of the time during first 6 months.
  • High Tech and/or Healthcare and Life Sciences (Medtech, Pharma, etc.) industry experience preferred

SUPERVISION
  • Direct reports: 3-5 FTE's across Logistics (Distribution and Transportation), Trade, and Project Management
  • Indirect reports: 7-10 FTE's cross-functionally (Quality, IT, Finance, Regulatory, HR, etc.)
