Collins is looking for a self-motivated, passionate contracts professional to serve as the Director of Contracts within the Avionics business unit. Avionics has approximately 15,000 employees in 55 locations globally. This role will globally lead multiple large teams of contracts managers in execution of critical contract matters.

The Director will participates in and/or conducts front-end assessments of proposals and develops strategies for negotiation, administration, and customer engagement for complex contracts to provide for proper execution and fulfillment in accordance with company policies, legal requirements, and customer specifications; develop contracts standards and operational plans to ensure business interests are protected; communicate with and influences senior executive leadership in and outside function on contracts strategy; identify, develop, and implement service excellence strategies to improve the relationship between contracts department and other departments; represents the organization to customers, suppliers, government agencies, and other third parties; partner in resolving customer disputes, business or technical issues by identifying contractual solutions and recommending a course of action; and own the execution of long-term strategy (e.g., more than 3 years) and operational direction for the Avionics Contracts Organization.

This role will report to the Avionics General Counsel and be responsible for:

  • Managing a global Contracts team
  • Review, drafting and negotiation of a wide range of contracts, including government contracts, software and other intellectual property licensing agreements as well as templates and standard agreements;
  • Advise, present to, and seek input from senior business leaders;
  • Strategic initiatives, policy, process improvements, training and people development
  • USG and foreign government pursuits;
  • Proactively ensure contract function’s performance and compliance to company policy;
  • Creatively problem solve and resolve the most complex functional issues;
  • Support M&A due diligence and integration activities as needed;
  • Travel to both Avionics and customer locations as needed;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.

  • Typically requires University Degree and minimum 14 years prior relevant experience oran Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 12 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 18 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited institution preferred.
  • 14 or more years of experience preferred with previous experience managing a large team.
  • USG contracting experience preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize and juggle multiple tasks.
  • Must be a good team player and business partner, capable of adapting contracts approach and analysis in an environment with rapidly changing digital technologies and competing priorities.

The salary range for this role is 171,000 USD - 343,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
