The Director, Clinical Operations will be responsible for the utilization management activities for the behavioral health team, including all Clinical systems, staff, and operations functions. Regular activities include management, supervision and strategic direction for Care Management, and setting and monitoring departmental quality and performance standards in conjunction with the Supervisor. The Director of Clinical Operations will oversee hiring, training, and job evaluations of departmental staff members. Participate with other Directors and Managers within the site in implementing strategic initiatives, policies and procedures. Ensure adequate communication between Care Management and other departments, divisions and regional offices. The Director of Clinical Operations will assist the Supervisor in long-range planning and goals. Adhere to annual budgets, anticipate potential variances and review with the Supervisors for direction and resolution.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversight of quality of clinical care, utilization and the meeting of financial goals for designated Health Plans, types of business and/or specific locations
- Management of staff efforts to meet or exceed clinical quality and customer service goals
- Chair and participate in committee and task forces involving departmental staff. Represent Managed Care functions in intra- and inter-departmental committee and problem focus-groups
- Coordination with Account Management and Clinical Network Services to maintain positive relationships with Health Plan(s) and/or employer groups as well as with practitioners and treatment facilities
- Development and implementation of plans that have a positive impact on utilization management
- Provision of leadership and supervision to Care Advocates
- Ensuring that department goals are communicated clearly, and that goals are met or exceeded through team efforts
- Provides leadership to and is accountable for the performance of managers and/or senior level professional staff

Required Qualifications:
- Master's or doctoral degree in psychology, social work, counseling or related field, or registered psychiatric nurse
- Current California non-restricted clinical license
- 5+ years post-Master's clinical experience, preferably in managed care
- 5+ years supervisory experience of leading large teams with multiple layers of management
- Clinical experience
- Proven ability to work in a team environment, leading groups of personnel toward defined goals

California Residents Only: The salary range for California residents is $104,700 to $190,400 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
