Job Description
- Performs bedside and personal care such as ambulation and personal hygiene assistance. Prepares and maintains records of client progress and services achieved, refused, or absent, reporting changes in client condition to manager or supervisor.
- Performs light housekeeping duties such as cooking, cleaning, washing clothes and dishes, and running errands. Cares for individuals, providing companionship, personal care, and help in adjusting to new lifestyles.
- Performs healthcare-related tasks such as monitoring vital signs and medication under the direction of registered nurses or physiotherapists with the appropriate medication administration certifications.
- Plans and prepares nutritious meals and assists the client in planning, shopping for, or preparing healthy meals.
- Transports clients to locations outside the home, such as physicians' offices or on outings, using a motor vehicle.
- Participates in client case reviews, consulting with the team caring for the client, evaluating the client's needs, and planning for continuing services.
- Must possess a strong service orientation, including active listening, communication, time management, critical thinking skills, and close monitoring of clients.
- Wholehearted gift of compassion, patience, and empathy.
- Capacity to balance client wants and needs while maintaining client health and safety.
- Must be willing to assist clients with all areas of daily living tasks, including but not limited to bathing, toileting, and other areas of personal hygiene.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Caregiving with Developmental Disabilities Experience preferred.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid Certification are preferred but willing to train.
- Behavioral management experience preferred.
- Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and lifting.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
