Balcones Country Club is looking for some fun, experienced servers to help take care of our Members and guests while dining at the Club, at catered banquets and Member events. Being that we are “The Club That Has The Most FUN”, you will work all types events from formal weddings, to Member Appreciation parties and Goofy Golf events. Applicants will need up to date Food Handlers and TABC licenses. Starting pay up to $15/ hour, automatic gratuity on dining serving shifts and we do offer health benefits as well as 401K.

JOB SUMMARY
Balcones Country Club food and beverage service staff is directly responsible for guest satisfaction in all food and beverage operations including dining, banquets and bar service. Their purpose is to provide friendly, knowledgeable and efficient service to the guests in accordance with The Club standard operating procedures, and core values. Seek opportunities to create memories by anticipating needs, exceeding expectations and building relationships.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma preferred or equivalent
  • At least 2 years previous service experience in an upscale club, resort or high-end restaurant
  • Strong knowledge of the following: English language; five star customer service; casual, fine dining and banquet food and beverage service; liquor, beer and wine knowledge
  • Food Handler’s Card and Texas Liquor Training (if not already acquired, will acquire upon employment)

Physical Requirements:

  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required; long hours standing and/or walking
  • Medium work – Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
  • Must have high level of physical fitness
  • Unusual working conditions: May be scheduled nights, weekends, holidays and occasional overtime; may work indoors or outdoors in a variety of weather conditions; working with wet/slippery floors, sharp objects, fumes and electrical equipment

  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly
  • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately
  • Must work well in stressful, high pressure situations
  • Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure

DUTIES & FUNCTIONS
Essential:

  • Employee leads by example, consistently conveying a positive attitude, passion and pride in your work

  • Conduct all business for the club as an ambassador of The Verrado Golf Club – with integrity and in a professional manner at all times
  • Respect all stakeholders’ privacy, perspective, priorities, time and resources
  • Keep fiscal responsibility and guest satisfaction in mind when making all decisions
  • Take part in keeping Balcones Country Club clean and litter free. Cleanliness is everyone’s responsibility, take ownership in the Club
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with The Club standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the Club
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming as per the Employee Handbook, which includes wearing proper attire and name tag when working
  • Comply at all times with Balcones Country Club standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient Club operations
  • Maintain and increase departmental revenues – Promote and maximize profitability via suggestive selling techniques and being aware of upcoming special events and promoting them verbally to the guests
  • Know the menu and assist guests by guiding them through our varied offerings and specials – describe, recommend, and offer options; always know the details of any current promotion or specialty menu
  • Build relationships with guests and staff – recall personal preferences in order to anticipate and exceed the guests’ expectations
  • Deliver customized service with warmth and genuine care
  • Cross-train and perform duties of all food and beverage service positions (food server, bartender, hostess and server assistant) as
  • scheduled or needed using standard operating procedures
  • Know all well liquor and draft beers as well as the wine list. Know the details of Happy Hour and how to open and serve a bottle of wine
  • Set and clear tables according to standard operating procedures; serve food and beverages to guests as needed
  • Responsible for completing detailed opening, mid-shift and closing duties
  • Remember Teamwork – look beyond your own section and treat all tables as your own; seek opportunities to support others
  • Use the concept of “Full Hands In/Full Hands Out” as you go through your shift.
  • Become an expert in the point of sale – know how to use modifiers, how to process voids, comps, proper tendering of multiple checks and multiple payments, and know your discounts. Use the lists and tools provided. Properly Z out and drop your cash at the end of each shift.
  • Maintain and ensure immaculate facilities for guests - Monitor and maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the front of house and back of house areas using a ‘clean as you go’ philosophy
  • Responsible for flow management, concentrating on busy areas first – prioritizing and organizing steps of service by effective multi-tasking
  • Maintain sanitary conditions in all dining, kitchen and bar areas in accordance with state and local regulations
  • Inform supervisor immediately of any equipment not in proper condition or good working order
  • Inform supervisor immediately of needed equipment, supplies, liquor, beer and wine
  • Attend pre-service meetings to prepare for and anticipate service needs
  • Recognize fellow employees for a job well done in a timely manner
  • Communicate all guest complaints and suggestions to your supervisor promptly
  • Follow all food and beverage service and club policies
  • Performs other duties as required by your manager
