Join the dynamic team at Barrios Technology as a Digital Communications Specialist for NASA's Gateway Program Strategic Communications Team. The Digital Communications Specialist will be part of a strategic communications team charged with communicating the progress, milestones and story of humanity's first space station to orbit the Moon - Gateway. We’re hiring for a creative and collaborative digital storyteller to share Gateway's story using integrated campaigns that encompass a variety of communications channels. As humanity’s first space station to orbit the Moon, Gateway is a vital component of the NASA-led Artemis missions to return to the Moon and chart a path for the first human missions to Mars.

The Digital Communications Specialist will:
- Work closely with the Gateway Program's external and internal strategic communications professionals and NASA’s Public Affairs Office.
- Work within a team to produce a variety of written and visual products, across multiple platforms, including feature story content for NASA websites, social media posts, outreach collateral, PowerPoint presentations, and other products.
- Maintain and update Gateway's website within NASA's existing content management system (CMS).
- Build and execute social media strategies, manage a social media planning calendar and produce, edit, and manage written and visual products to coincide with strategies and milestones.
- Curate and update Gateway's on-line imagery repositories for historical, internal, and external audiences.
- Develop goals and metrics for social media campaigns, then analyze and report results.
- Deliver excellent client service and gain client trust with quality work products and a high standard of professionalism.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
Required Education/Experience/Skills:
- BS/BA degree in Public Relations, Digital Media, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field from an accredited college or university, plus two (2) years of relevant experience.
- Experience writing for digital media, feature stories, or other science, space, or technology related content targeted to the general public.
- Proficient in all aspects of operating social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X), posses the ability to write and edit in AP Style, and learn about and adapt to emerging communications platforms.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills required, as well as integration, coordination, and presentation skills, and an ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment.
- Proficient with content management system (CMS) and social media content management platforms.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Capable of creative and collaborative work with high visibility.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment to perform assigned tasks.
- Experience working with social media influencers is a plus.
- Experience with the Adobe Create Suite – (InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop) is a plus.
- Experience with 3D animation is a plus.
- Experience in gathering and reporting social media analytics.
