Required Skills & Experience
- 4+ years of digital product (UX) research and testing experience and/or a combination of relevant education, training, and job experience
- You have strong written and verbal communication skills and are comfortable presenting research findings to a group of your peers
- You collaborate effectively with other researchers, designers, product managers, and software engineers
- You are familiar with design & interaction patterns and affordances that are common among digital applications
- You understand web & software accessibility principles
- You’re capable of creating & facilitating moderator guides and interviews that illicit valuable user insights in the form of personas and journey maps
- You can perform heuristic reviews and independent usability evaluations that lead to product recommendations & improvements
- You’re experienced in working with designers to conduct design concept validation and usability tests on prototypes and production software systems
- You have a strong grasp on the latest research methods and tools, e.g., UserZoom, Optimal Workshop, Maze
- You’re familiar with modern digital design and prototyping tools including Figma
- Project management skills, e.g., organization, time management, planning, negotiation, and prioritization
- Client management skills, e.g., building relationships & trust with cross-functional stakeholders, defining boundaries & processes, advocating for appropriate & effective research methods
- You understand and apply Design Thinking principles
- You’re experienced applying an effective research process within Agile Scrum teams & Lean methodologies
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Actively build relationships and collaborate with the product team(s) that you support to conduct research that will help teams build the right thing and build the thing right. This includes identifying research opportunities, developing & sharing research plans, recruiting test participants, executing the research, presenting research findings & recommendations to stakeholders, and generally serving as a usability expert for those you support
- Conduct a variety of design research activities based on the needs of the product team(s) you support—this may include quantitative surveys, qualitative interviews, solution validation, usability tests, heuristic evaluations, etc., remotely and in person, synchronously and asynchronously
- Develop a deep understanding of the product(s) you support, how it functions, its users and their needs, the market and competitors
- Be on the lookout for opportunities to share your insights, pool resources, and learn from research that’s been done for other software portfolios
- Provide estimates and manage your schedule of concurrent research initiatives
- Contribute to weekly design reviews by asking questions, critiquing the work of your peers, and sharing & collecting feedback on your own work
This role is ideally based out of our Boulder, CO or Carmel, IN offices. There is also the possibility to work remotely, working primarily during US Eastern Time zone working hours. Some travel to client sites may be required.
