SUMMARY OF POSITION
Briefly summarize the primary purpose of the position.
A Research Technician is responsible for supporting R&D activities for the development of propriety solutions resulting in new products, platform technologies and productivity.
MAJOR ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Consistently performs tasks in accordance with safety guidelines.
- Executes research projects and other business-related assignments under supervision.
- Delivers induvial contribution in accordance with project deadlines.
- Proficiently operates lab equipment for catalyst synthesis and evaluation.
- Calculates starting materials and prepares catalyst samples (including pre-treatment) from lab scale to pilot scale.
- Assist in handing large or heavy items when needed.
- Develops and maintains Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Troubleshoots equipment and performs routine maintenance.
- Maintains detailed laboratory records and inventories.
- Ensure a well-organized and tidy workspace.
ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
Reports to the Manager of Catalyst Synthesis in R&D.
BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Minimum of 3 years laboratory experience, industrial experience is a plus.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Good math skills.
- Effective multitasking abilities and strong work management skills.
- Detail-oriented for consistent and accurate experimental results.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Skills in multi-step organic synthesis and basic knowledge of various analytical instrumentation (such as ICP, AA, BET, TGA/DSC, SEM, and mercury porosimeter) are plus, but not required.
