Design Manager

Human Active Technology (HAT), an ergonomic workspace manufacturer located in the Lehigh Valley of PA, is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, Design Manager. The position is an exciting opportunity to develop new customer partnerships within the office furniture industry. HAT is a leader in the office furniture industry and serves many markets, including but not limited to Office, Commerce, Enterprise, Federal, SLED, Healthcare, and Financial. This role can be located almost anywhere within the US but would require visits to our main office in Easton, PA or to one of our many showrooms across the US.

Key responsibilities include:

- Collaborate with sales teams and clients to gather project information and develop creative and functional design solutions that meet the clients’ requirements, aesthetic, timeline, and budget.

- Provide executive summaries of key situations so management can easily provide appropriate escalation support.

- Responsible for Design and Showrooms Annual budget forecasting and reporting on actual spend.

- Design/Work with 3rd party vendors on design and implementation for showrooms, internal office, tradeshows.

- A successful candidate will understand the design process through programming, interior architecture, architectural specification, documentation, and furniture, fixture and equipment (FF&E) specifications.

- Prepare working drawings and furniture specifications using CET or other design/specifier software.

- Ensure that all design presentations are polished and on-brand.

- Ability to read architecture and engineering drawings, floor plans and blueprints.

- Understanding of how to read and interpret national building codes.

- Adequate knowledge of competitors and competitive products.

- Assist the Sales team with RFP response and bid package buildouts.

- Ability to build relationships with External Contacts, designers, specifiers, dealers, and service or installation agencies alongside Sales Team and other departments.

- Provide technical assistance to our prospects, clients, A+D Community, internal sales team, and project management and resolve any problems.

- Converting file types across different platforms for various sales/company needs.

- Mentor junior specifiers with focus on: product knowledge, industry standards, sales-client-designer relationships, software competency (AutoCAD, CET, InDesign, etc.) and general growth.

- Spec Check other team members’ work as needed both internal and external.

- maintain and track design log/provide updates link to CRM.

- Assist with building lifestyle mod boards for renders to support marketing with current and emerging trends.

- Provide external and internal training to sales, reps, and dealers/designers on who Design is and what ways the team can be supported while they are in the field.

- Provided CEU presentations and assisted with the development of a more extensive library of CEU’s for the A&D Community. Engaged on several occasions to speak about various field topics.

- Use AutoCAD, CET, CAP, and electronic catalogs to develop 2D and 3D drawings, and create SIF files/project worksheets

- Manage Vendors and Relationships with Configura, 20/20, etc

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

- Bachelor of Interior Design or equivalent combination of education and experience

- Excellent PC and keyboard/mouse skills required; technically proficient with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation applications (i.e., Microsoft Office) and internet, with ability to learn and utilize systems as required.

- Knowledge of AutoCAD required.

- Knowledge of Configura CET required.

- Knowledge of CAP , Giza , 20|20 or Worksheet a plus

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
