Job Description
Objective: Develop cost-effective tooling designs and bills of material for Semblex manufacturing.
1. Review new or current parts for formability and perform calculations to determine forming sequence, proper machine, and wire size.
2. Use CAD software to produce tool and tool assembly drawings
3. Use DEFORM simulation software to analyze forming techniques and die designs.
4. Complete tooling BOM in the engineering system database.
5. Submit and contribute input to the design review team (DFM) and make appropriate changes prior to release of new parts.
6. Work with Manufacturing Dept. and Tooling Dept. in reviewing and resolving manufacturing issues on shop floor for current and new parts including review manufacturing feedback requests.
7. Make appropriate changes to tooling prints and BOM’s, issuing ECN’s to the appropriate departments.
8. Maintain engineering standards and best practices.
9. Perform tool standards and tool life reviews.
10. Assist Process Engineering and Cost Estimating as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Four-year degree or equivalent experience.
Experience: 3+ years of progressive tool engineering responsibility
Skills: Cold forming principles, CAD software, knowledge of special quality requirements, general forming tolerances, and raw materials and manufacturing operations.
Physical Requirements:
Physical requirements include: Lifting up to 30 pounds on occasion.
