Definition & Distinguishing Characteristics
Colusa County Department of Health and Human Services is currently seeking a highly organized and proactive individual to join our team as our Department Secretary. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional administrative support to our executives, ensuring smooth operations and efficient coordination. This role is crucial in ensuring the functioning of our department by providing administrative support and maintaining efficient communication channels. We are the largest Department in the County, with over 80 staff. Our agency works with Colusa County residents in administering social services programs including Cal Works, Cal-Fresh, Medi-Cal, In-home Supportive Services (IHSS), Adult and Children's Services, Public Health and Housing. What's this Job All About?
The person selected for this role will report to the Director and Deputy Director. The position entails coordinating schedules for management including travel. This position will perform other special projects and activities as directed by management. The incumbent will coordinate activities both within the agency and with other County departments, the public, outside agencies and the management team.
This recruitment is only for employees of the Department of Health and Human Services.
At the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), we work a 37.5 full-time work week, with the option of a flex-schedule. Also, the County is currently exploring remote work options of 1-2 days per week (depending on position, performance & workload). Supervision & Examples of Duties
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives general supervision from management of supervisory staff.
May exercise technical and functional supervision over clerical staff.
Qualifications
Experience and Training Guidelines-Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience: Two years of responsible secretarial and clerical experience.
Training: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized secretarial or clerical course work.
Supplemental Information
The salary range above consists of 15 steps. Steps 1-6 are annual merit steps with approximately 5% difference between each step, based on successful performance. Steps 7-15 are additional merit steps, requiring 2 years of satisfactory performance at the previous step. Steps 7-14 provide 2.5% increases, while Step 15 offers a 5% increase. The final salary offered will depend on the applicant's experience and qualifications, ranging from steps 1 to 15.
