Jamestown Family Dental Clinic is recruiting for a full-time, benefited, Dental Assistant to join the growing team!
The Dental Assistant is responsible for providing skilled dental assisting services to the JFDC team. All duties and responsibilities will be performed as directed by the Clinic Operations Manager/ Dental Assistant Supervisor. The position operates within a strong team environment and under the health standards of the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe.

As a Registered Dental Assistant, you will:
- Assist dental providers by setting up proper instruments prior to seating patients, greeting and seating patients and preparing patients for interaction with dental provider including assuring patient pertinent demographic information and medical history is accurate and up to date
- Provide chairside assistance during examinations and other procedures including passing of instruments and materials, operating suction/retraction equipment in patients’ mouths.
- Apply coronal polish; take study model impressions; fabricate and cement temporary crowns, place and remove rubber dams, as needed
- Maintain dental operatories including lab and sterilization area in a clean, orderly and sterile condition, doing deep cleaning once weekly and observing infection control practices at all times
- Maintain, clean, package, sterilize and store all dental equipment and instruments according to current infection control guidelines
- Triage emergency patients: report findings to the dentist and schedule as necessary
- Provide oral hygiene instructions; routine prophylaxis and topical fluoride treatments on adults and children as assigned by dentist
- Assist with tracking inventory, purchase of supplies and equipment
- Assist reception staff to greet and take care of patient needs as needed
- Participate in dental staff meetings
- Adhere to all JST and JFDC policies and procedures, including but not limited to standards for safety, PPE and work practices as described in the JFHC Occupational Exposure Control Plan and HIPAA
- Maintain and ensure patient confidentiality
- Perform additional duties when and as assigned
What are the Required Qualifications for this position?
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Willingness to receive ongoing continuing education required
- BLS Certification
- Basic personal computer skills required as well as the ability to learn dental office scheduling, electronic tooth and periodontal charting software (Eaglesoft), word processing and other software programs
- Exceptional interpersonal skills including effective verbal and written communication
- Ability to travel locally and regionally as assigned
- Must be able to successfully pass criminal background investigation
What are the Preferred Qualifications for this position?
- Dental assistant accreditation
- Previous dental experience with thorough understanding of the operations of a professional dental clinic
- American Indian/Alaska Native preferences apply
