Representative Duties
DEFINITION:
The Dean of Student Affairs, Enrollment Services and Equity is an Educational Administrator position as designated by the Board of Trustees of the Imperial Community College District. The Dean is charged by the Board of Trustees with the satisfactory implementation of Board policy and district or college procedures as applicable to the position. In addition, the Dean is expected to make appropriate recommendations for modifications, additions, or deletions in policy and/or through the appropriate reporting authority.
Under the direction of the Vice President of Student Services, provide direction and leadership to Enrollment Services, financial aid, student health services, student equity, and to students, student government, student activities, and other related duties and responsibilities as assigned. The Dean of Student Affairs, Enrollment Services, & Equity is responsible for providing students with a safe environment that is conducive to learning, while contributing to their intellectual, emotional, academic, and professional development through increased classroom, campus, and community engagement initiatives. Manage, coordinate, and evaluate the services offered, the faculty, other personnel, and the facilities comprising the areas of responsibility. Coordinate and evaluate instructional programs assigned to programs within the division.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
  • Oversee, manage, direct, assign, and evaluate the work of faculty, advisors, classified supervisors and other support staff in the areas of responsibility, which include: Student Affairs, Student Government/Development Activities, Admissions & Records, Financial Aid, Student Health Services and Student Equity and Achievement programs and services;
  • Oversee student government and student development activities, advise the student senate, and attend appropriate conferences with students as required or needed.
  • Serves as part of the Title IX team ; provide comprehensive, timely response, investigations, and support services to individuals reporting Title IX violations.
  • Direct, supervise, and coordinate college and student sponsored activities, campus organizations, campus clubs, and social and recreational activities; as well as coordinating use of facilities on campus.
  • Prepare budget estimates; administer and monitor approved budgets.
  • Administer the Student Code of Conduct, due process and student discipline.
  • Adjudicate student appeals and grievances within areas of responsibility.
  • Plan and coordinate activities pertaining to graduation ceremonies.
  • Direct the coordination of the Students' Recognition Program and other student awards' activities.
  • Ensures continuous quality improvement in student services programs and services by analyzing qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Provides guidance at the campus level for other student services to ensure strong, reliable, and high quality services. ?
  • Provides leadership and collaborates and assists with instruction, campus operations, and other campus services to provide integrated and aligned, quality campus services.
  • Collaborates with instructional deans, faculty, and academic support staff to improve student retention.
  • Directs college leadership in strategic and organizational planning processes to increase college outreach, completion, graduation, and or transfer.
  • Coordinate and monitor campus posting areas and update the policies as necessary;
  • Responsible for the development and management of the department's budget consistent with District fiscal policies.
  • Supervise and evaluate assigned managers, faculty, staff, and student employees in accordance with applicable evaluation procedures.
  • Regularly schedule and chair faculty and staff meetings and special meetings as needed; serve on regular and special committees as assigned by the Vice President of Student Services; represent the division concerns and needs to the Vice President of Student Services; participate in the Student Services Council; and work effectively and collaboratively with Instruction.
  • Provide training to employees, as appropriate, in work procedures, standards and safety practices.
  • Resolve conflicts and facilitate consensus decision-making.
  • Compile and report information related to the division's programs to include Program Review, progress indicators, Service Area and Student Learning Outcomes and special projects.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with local schools, colleges and universities as related to areas of responsibility, and represent the division and the college in community related activities as assigned.
  • Support learning centered instructional methodology. Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Ability to work cooperatively and coordinate activities with administrators, faculty, staff, and outside agencies.
• Organize and chair meetings, lead workshops, facilitate group discussions.
• Ability to meet time lines and organize multiple projects effectively.
• Ability to train, supervise and evaluate personnel.
• Ability to utilize technology and educational tools as appropriate.
• Ability to mediate and resolve faculty, staff and student problems, complaints and grievances according to employee contracts and district policy and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a related master's degree and one year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrator's assignment.
