This position may be located at Highlands Neighborhood Center, Renton Community Center, and North Highlands Neighborhood Center.
Hourly Rate:
Recreation Leader 1: $16.50 per hour
Recreation Leader 2: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour
Recreation Leader 3: $22.00 – $26.00 per hour
- Placement and rate of pay is dependent on years of experience and qualifications.
HOURS: The hours and schedule for this position vary and may be from 10-40 hours per week.
SUPERVISION:
Reports To:Recreation Leader 3, Recreation Program Coordinator and/or Designee
Supervises: Recreation Leader 2 and 3 levels perform lead
- Provide care, safety, and supervision of program participants; attend and supervise children during field trips and events.
- Assist with preparing activities and events.
- Implement, lead and/or assist with daily activities in a variety of areas.
- Report all problems and concerns to Recreation Coordinator and/or Recreation management as appropriate.
- Complete incident reports immediately and communicate any incidents with Recreation Coordinator and/or Recreation management as appropriate.
- Maintain positive relationships and constant communication with Recreation staff, participants and parents.
- Assist staff in other recreational programs and events as assigned.
- Attend all staff meetings and trainings.
- Be prepared to provide first aid needs as they may occur.
- Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance; work flexible evening hours as needed for open house and information nights.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Recreation Leader 1:
- Minimum 16 years of age.
- Successful passing of a required background check.
- Volunteer experience related to recreation preferred.
Recreation Leader 2:
- Minimum 17 years of age.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of previous work, or volunteer, experience in recreation, teaching or Day Camp environment required.
- Successful passing a required background check.
- Some positions may require a valid Driver's License and successful passing of a required driving record check.
Recreation Leader 3:
- At least 18 years of age, some positions may require at least 21 years of age.
- 4 – 8 years of previous work, or volunteer, experience related to the designated or assigned recreation program required.
- Successful passing of a required background check.
- Some positions may require a valid Driver's License and successful passing of a required driving record check.

- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, the community and program participants.
- Follow instructions, both written and verbal.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds on occasion.
- Driving to offsite locations to perform essential functions for some positions.
- Move throughout City facilities and buildings,
- Operate a computer and other office equipment.
- Communicate with City employees and residents.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work is performed indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Noise level is moderately loud.

Recruitment Process:
