Back to all Jobs Recreation Leader I - Junior Camp Counselor Closes On: April 26, 2024 at 04:30 PM EST Location: Queen Anne's County, Centreville, MD 21617 Department: Parks and Recreation Job Status: Part-Time Rate of Pay: $15.00 - Hour Apply Now JOB SUMMARY Under supervision, is responsible for direct organization of a variety of recreation services and activities, including but not limited to indoor and outdoor recreation programs, camps, sporting events, club house operations and special events. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Set up and clean up before and after assigned recreation activities, programs and events. Lead or assist with games and activities to include score and clock keeping, special events, movie nights, etc.
Assist groups in planning and carrying out program activities. Prepare craft activity materials. Responsible for cash handling and adhering to the cash handling policy.
Responsible for providing host duties, handling of pre-packaged foods and beverages. Accompany participants on hikes, field trips and outside activities. Provide cordial, responsive and accurate customer service.
Adhere to safety guidelines to prevent injuries. Supervise youth participants through daily program activities enforcing program rules and Youth Camp Standards. Provide assistance to the Recreation Leader II and III with a variety of recreation activities, programs and events.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Recreation Leader I - CPR and First Aid Certifications, preferred. Must be at least 16* years old or older or have successfully completed the tenth grade. At least one year of experience working with youth in the field of parks and recreation, physical education, childcare, or a related field preferred.
*Age restriction is based on COMAR regulations for working with children in camp settings. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands and fingers, handle, feel objects, tools or controls; reach with arms and talk and hear. Required to reach, stoop, bend and stand.
