Job Description
Performs intermediate unskilled work assisting with the implementation of recreational activities; does related work as required; Duties are performed under the regular supervision of a Recreation Program Supervisor or a Recreation Leader IV.
The hiring range for a Recreation Leader I is from $12.00/hour to $15/.00/hour based on experience.
The hiring range for a Recreation Leader II is from $12.84/hour to $16.05/hour based on experience.
The hiring range for a Recreation Leader III is from $13.74/hour to $17.18/hour based on experience.
The hiring range for a Recreation Leader IV is from $14.70/hour to $18.38/hour based on experience.
Examples of Duties
• Assisting with the implementation of recreational activities such as arts and crafts, sports and games, and camp activities.
• Opens and closes recreation facilities;
• Sets up program facilities, supplies, and equipment;
• Assists with scheduling events;
• Helps enforce standards of discipline and conduct by program participants;
• Assists in the organizing and preparation of recreational activities;
• Helps maintain stores and inventories recreational equipment, materials, and supplies;
• Assists in the care and maintenance of equipment;
• Helps lead groups of participants in recreational activities;
• Provides information to the public regarding activities and programs;
• Performs related duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Some knowledge of the methods and practices of community recreation; some knowledge of the equipment, techniques, and relevant rules of recreational programming; ability to assist in instructing common recreational activities; ability to establish effective working relationships with other workers, program participants, and the general public; ability to enforce rules and regulations and help maintain discipline; some knowledge of personal computers and computer applications is helpful.
Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience with recreational programs and arts and crafts; ability to withstand exposure to direct sunlight, heat and humidity.
