First Steps Kent is an independent, public-private partnership that leads community efforts to strengthen and coordinate early childhood services in Kent County, Michigan. In November 2018, Kent County passed the Ready by Five Early Childhood Millage. Funding provides support and programming for more than 12,000 young children and expectant parents a year. Ready by Five is funded by a .25 mill property tax increase that generates about $7.5M per year and funds about 40 early childhood programs throughout Kent County.

First Steps Kent is the organization administering the Ready by Five Early Childhood Millage. We are in search of a Data Specialistwith an innate attention to detail who will ensure Ready by Five’s data collection process is followed and ensure that data submitted by millage-funded partners is accurate and complete. The ideal candidate will have experience with DAX, PowerQuery M, and PowerBI.

What the Data Specialist is responsible for:

· Maintaining the Ready by Five dashboard data model, including the cleaning and checking of data to ensure data submitted by millage-funded partner is accurate and complete.

· Managing and updating program databases to prepare monthly and annual updates.

· Utilizing data to develop dashboards with high-quality and easily interpretable visualizations that effectively communicate data insights.

· Maintaining clear and comprehensive documentation regarding data processes and dashboard functionalities.

· Collaboration with the Funding Administration team to support key reporting capabilities that track millage-funded program reach, impact, as well as opportunities to improve services.

· Supporting milage-funded partners’ data collection process by answering technical questions and providing problem-solving technical consultation, as needed.

What we’re looking for in a candidate:

· Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, computer science, or related field with at minimum two years of experience in a similar technical role.

· Demonstrated understanding of relational database structure and strategic objectives to extract and organize relevant data for analysis.

· Ability to assess trends and insight using multiple data sets and large amounts of data.

· Experience with Power BI data models and visualization.

· Strong familiarity with Access, SQL, Excel, DAX, Power BI, and PowerQuery M.

· A strong ethical principle, emphasizing integrity and confidentiality in all work.

· Self-motivated individual who also values teamwork and collaboration.

· Meticulous attention to detail with excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.

Sarting Salary: $54,000, Commensurate with Qualifications and Experience.
